Frazer's is a must-do for all St. Louisians who know a thing or two about dining out. Located on the west end of Soulard Neighborhood; it's a quaint little hideaway. Don't let the exterior fool you, this is an upscale experience people. Dress accordingly. Well, I may be exaggerating a bit but you should definitely put on something nice (I wore fitted jeans and heels). The bar area is pretty "happening" and the decor really sets the tone for a great time. The dining area is intimate along with a private "velvet rope" type area for groups who don't necessarily want common folk intruding their space. My server was well versed in the menu and recommended the Cioppino after I advised him I was a light eater. It was the perfect main course for me' loaded with delicious seafood. I started with the goat cheese salad....also amazingly delish! The finale was the chocolate torte....there was no better way to end my Frazer's experience. I was pleased beyond words. I'll be back!
Came here last night with a friend. It wasn't my first time here, but it definitely wasn't my BEST time here. Let's start with the good.. *The patio is awesome! I like that the street isn't very busy - it makes for a less obnoxious outdoor dining experience. *The drinks are great. Although I did have to send the Riesling back (because it was not Riesling), the Prosecco and Pinot Grigio that I had were perfect for the breezy patio. *The server was very delicate. I know that may not make any sense lol but he was just very accommodating, and different - in a good way. He made sure everything was perfect and right for us. *The music was grooving lol Now the bad.. *I ordered the fish special, which was blackened Mahi Mahi with sesame sauce, some type of sesame slaw, and red beans & rice. I hate to be the one that eats all the food and then complains about it, but seriously I was starving....and the food was just not great. Although the fish was blackened, it was virtually flavorless. I usually NEVER pick up the salt at the table, but this fish was in dire need of salt. The slaw was a runnier than I would I have liked it to be - didn't really add much to the dish. The red beans & rice were okay - you could tell they had been plated first because the red beans started to "crack". In my mind, the dish sounded good. The execution on the other hand was a little baffling. Mahi Mahi is usually used in fish tacos - and fish tacos are usually accompanied with a fresh slaw. On the other hand, blackened seasoning is a Cajun staple, alongside red beans & rice. I think I was expecting something different as he described it because what came out was a plate of confusion. *The food took a really long time to come out. Not really sure why, but the appetizer salad took about 20-30 minutes to come out. I'd definitely come back here for drinks on the patio outside. It's a great place to hangout. I'm sure their happy hours are great too!

It is a great place to do brunch, get drinks or get dinner.. Frazers has a great selection of beer & wines and excellent entrees that make the wines even better.. The breakfast cocktails here are a pretty good excuse to get drinking before noon. My favorite thing to get here is sweet potato enchiladas.. they are so good I reverse engineered them and make them at home too.. Sweet potato enchiladas are served with red cabbage slaw, cilantro rice and black beans and it calls for a clean plate..

Frazer's is an amazing place to try a diverse menu, both food and drink. The staff is amazing, attentive, and very friendly. We had to do a last minute birthday dinner for Sarah because we got into a car accident and couldn't do our active party anymore. We called with a few days notice and they were able to accommodate 18 people during dinner rush. That is pretty great. That level of customer service is what pushed us over the edge in choosing this place for our Rehearsal Dinner. I can't wait to go back when I am not the DD and try some more of their amazing cocktails. I also highly recommend the fish specials. Doesn't really matter what it is, every time we have chosen that as our entree we walked away with a full stomach and a big smile across our face.

Nothing but the best things to say about this place! Have a friend who is active duty and was relocating, they set us upstairs in private dining to give our group of 15 some privacy and an opportunity to be together uninterrupted. We ordered the cheese tray, Very nicely presented, two fruits, 4 cheeses and VERY crisp pita chips. The cheeses were not explained to us, so we just jumped in and started sampling. When looking for a venue for a holiday dinner, a friend who knows her food picked this place. I had never heard of it but am always on the lookout for delicious new places so I was excited. She made a reservation no problem (a previous reviewer mentioned they couldn't make reservations?). When we arrived we were promptly seated and given menus. Our server was great - it felt like a show as he presented with lots of information and humor and paced us. He was very knowledgeable about specials and the menu. There was only one time my water was empty and I needed more but otherwise he was attentive. I ordered a soda pop fizz cocktail that tasted like an orange cream soda (but warning: it's pink!). Had a kinda weird after taste though. Food wise, we ordered the cheese plate, bacon wrapped dates, cups of chili, and some salads to start. I didn't have any but everyone said it was delicious. They serve warm bread before the meal which is always appreciated. They had a ton of menu specials and many sounded delish! I ordered the Pork Shnitzel while my husband had the burger. Our other party members got many specials too including blackened mahi mahi, breaded mahi mahi, sweet potato tacos, bacon wrapped meatloaf, and chicken pasta dish. Everyone loved their meal! Oh and I need to mention the atmosphere. It was very cozy and chill. We were off in an alcove that was perfect for our party. It was a nice loungey feel which I appreciate. Overall a great dining experience and I would return. My one issue is that I think it's a bit overpriced, particularly my cocktail and main course. For us, it will be a great place to go for a special dinner.

I never EVER would have found this place if it weren't for turning Yelp off and opening my fucking eyes. I find a lot of good stuff through Yelp, but it's mostly new or popular places. This place is a hidden gem. Nothing about it sticks out. Its name is painfully boring, and I try to avoid any place that calls itself a "lounge". Ick. Felt adventurous and wanted to finally try Venice Cafe, which, of course, is closed the one time I want to go there. My friend and I stood on the sidewalk like a couple of morons, not knowing what to do. I fumbled around with my phone, and we both just kind of started walking blindly forward, dying for beer. Finally, I just said fuck the phone, let's walk until we find a place, which luckily for us, was about 10 feet. This place looked so amazing. I actually thought it might be a mirage. It is ADORABLE. Tile mosaic floor, loungy furniture inside, and a lot of cute patio space outside. I was like, whoa, what IS this place??? "Frazer's"? I have never heard of this place. I don't know how that's possible, because this place is amazing, from the decor to the service and down to the food. It is a little $$, but well worth it. Didn't eat a whole meal, but tried their bread pudding, which was legit. I cannot wait to come back here. This place is the ultimate date spot. This place needs to change its name for real, because I really think that's what is holding it back. The service was a little slow, but then again, it was a slow and relaxed afternoon, and it actually was nice not to be rushed for a change. This place is a solid 4 and a half stars. It shies just below perfection, and probably gets lost in the sea of "good" places. It's not new, it's not fancy, it's not terribly unusual. Great Ambiance in the bar! Go for a couple drinks before dinner. Funny how two of the funkiest places in town (Frazer's and Venice Cafe) are right next to each other. I had the Mahi. It came with feta mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was great. We ordered the cheese plate and BBQ shrimp for apps which were both great as well. The server, Francois I believe, was very knowledgable about both the food and suggested wine parings. It felt like a dining "experience" as opposed to just going out to dinner. Definitely a great date night spot to impress your lady! Not too bad on the wallet either considering the quality of food and service :)

Frazers is one of my favorite spots. Creative cocktails and friendly service. Atmosphere is top notch. Love the way the restaurant is set up, and the decor is beautiful. We happened to be in on a day with perfect weather, so we took a table right inside the open walk-out windows. The bartender waited on us. Food was great. We ordered a couple wraps and a sandwich. Everything came out exactly how we expected. The only downside was the time it took to get food and then our checks. Quite a wait here, but this is not consistent with other experiences I've had at Frazers. I'll be back very soon!

We dined here on a Saturday night with another couple. They are big fans of the place and recommended it. I appreciated that they squeezed us in a 7:30 with only 30 minute notice. Lots of delicious sounding specials. The cheese plate appetizer was amazing as was the complimentary bread basket. It tasted like hops (?) or yeast (?) Not sure if that is correct, but the place is next door to the brewery so it tasted very authentic! The chicken special was okay. They had a lot of fun cocktails which my husband enjoyed. My only suggestion is to make one dedicated men's restroom and one women's restroom rather than both being unisex. I hate using men's restrooms. Always nasty. It was like an obstacle course to not get urine on me or my clothes.

This place has incredible cocktails. My boyfriend ordered a mojito; he said it was the best he's had in STL. THEY USED LIQUID NITROGEN TO MAKE IT. So amazing. The food was fantastic. We had the meatloaf (pretty damn good), the fried green tomatoes (amazing), and the Chorizo stuffed dates (pretty good). You could taste the ingredients were fresh; we'll be going back.

3 stars, being in business 20+ years has its advantages. The food is still inconsistent, even the same dish twice served looks different, irregular portions (sorry to be picky, but it is annoying when 2 people order the same dish and it doesn't look the same and the portions are different). Even when the server dropped the plates(service is still rough at times) they noticed the differences, instead of acknowledging they just ran away. The food quality is decent - everything was over salted, it was hard to taste the food. The staff is a little rough at times and so higher prices tend to really confuse the atmosphere. It took time to get back here because of the obstacles of inconsistent food and odd staff - probably wait another 5 years to return. The value and experience is not what they are wanting to project, I think.

The other night I came here as part of my 21st birthday celebration with friends and this little foodie was impressed! Everything I had was absolutely delicious. This is a favorite spot for a date night. They have something for everyone and very reasonably priced for the quality. I recommend the fish special or the sweet potato enchiladas. I have paid twice as much for fish at other restaurants in St. Louis and I always think Frazer's tastes better and you get more!! You won't even miss the meat in the enchiladas. They have really stepped up their cocktail menu in recent months. Don't leave without getting the key lime pie. If I'm too full I take it to go!

Arrived at 8pm party of 12, no reservation, because they don't accept em- Dinner served @ 10:40pm. Ughhhh yea 10:40pm. Let's start with bar service: this place is run by some customer service-less amateurs! Ordered 2 cocktails, that were lovely but the bartender tried to pocket a $10 tip without offering me change, which is what's proper. Empty glasses and waterless refills filled the bar, just seemed like the bartenders had too many specialty drinks to make that they forgot about everyone else. Dinner service: redemption! Food was iight, I could do better in my kitchen, which was the overall response from the table. We ordered a variety of entrees from pasta to steak to vegan curry tofu-everything lacked luster and the serving sizes were not very desirable for the price. I will stick to lunch in the future, dinner is simply not worth it

We walked in here for dinner on a suggestion from the bartender at the Venice Cafe. Immediately we noticed the super cool seating in the lounge area and the atmosphere that it created. I would love to come back some night just to spend some time in the bar area. On Monday nights, they were offering a free bottle of wine with dinner if you spent $40, so of course we had to try that. We started with stuffed dates and thought they were good, and liked the slightly spicy sauce they were topped with. The dining area had a creative feel to it and we certainly enjoyed the environment. They had lots of specials to choose from as well as the regular menu. As usual, the specials did not have their prices listed; however, it was nice to find out that the prices were comparable to the menu prices and not $10+ additional dollars. I had the pork tenderloin special and thought the flavor was good. The spinach that was served with it, was just plain wilted spinach, so that wasn't a favorite of mine. Hubby had the meat loaf plate and thought it had a very homemade, comfort food feel which he loved. Sarah had the sweet potato enchiladas special and was really happy with her choice. We would certainly return for another visit.

There's a bar area, dining area, and we sat in what I would call a lounge area just inside the door where there are couches with lots of pillows and lush chairs. That worked great for the six of us. One of our party got six oysters and enjoyed them thoroughly. Highlights were: Cheese Plate -- I just ate the cheese and an apple wedge. The cheeses were fabulous, full-bodied taste treats. Salmon -- I used the cucumber as the vehicle to get it to my mouth, added onion, capers and a squeeze of lemon. Hummus -- Can't go wrong using feta and Kalamata olives. Yummy. Carpaccio -- Just divine beef with such a tasteful splash of the parmesan reggiano with tangy, briny capers and a luscious squeeze of fresh lemon. I think I ate most of the capers. I was not a fan of the chorizo-stuffed dates. The dates were overtaken by the spicy tomato sauce. I didn't even taste the dates. It wasn't too spicy. It was just too much, 'cause the chorizo was heavy and the bacon was heavy, and the sauce was overwhelming. I love mushrooms, but this strudel creation just didn't work for me. I don't know what it was, but I tasted more "other stuff" than mushrooms. We had a grand evening with spectacular service and food -- and, of course, the company was the best.

Not high brow, not low brow. Is there a middle brow? Sooo, when we walked in to Frazer's I was a little skeptical. It looked a little fancy pants pretentious. It is a little fancy pants but minus the pretentious. We were greeted quickly and seated outside, as we requested. Our waiter's name was, and probably still is-ha ha, Brian. He was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, a little quirky, excited about the food, and my bf said he was mindful. Seriously, he really made the experience awesome. I highly recommend requesting him as your server. The bf ordered a beer and I tried a specialty drink. Mine was a bit sweet but good. I switched to Stoli and soda after that. We started off with the fried green tomatoes topped with crab meat. The tomatoes were tasty, thick and firm, the crab meat could have used a little seasoning but it was good, the breading definitely could have used some seasonings. I can think of 2 other places, in Soulard, off the top of my head that do it better. Don't let that deter you though, they were still good and maybe you would dig them. The bf had chicken picatta and I had sweet potato enchiladas with cilantro rice and black beans. The chicken picatta was good but I felt the sauce could have been a bit more acidic. The enchiladas were stellar. I was worried they'd be too sweet but they weren't and they smelled heavenly. The arugula with the sweet potato was a great bitter complement and the sauce was warm with mild heat. The cilantro rice was aromatic and perfectly cooked. The black beans were, well, black beans. We were too full for dessert but were convinced we must visit again for cocktails and in house made dessert. A note: Their menu may seem small but they always have specials.

Frazer's has been on our favorites list since the first time we visited St. Louis a decade ago--even as a young teen I knew this place was amazing. My Aunt lives close by so we always stop in at least once during our visits. They have a great happy hour in the bar area with fun, interested cocktails and delicious apps (I don't remember happy hour details since we missed it this time, but go!) A must-try for starters are the chorizo stuffed dates and their blue cheese wedge salad. The regular menu has great items and there are always a few chef's specials to try. For dinner this time I had their halibut special w/ feta mashed potatoes and perfect asparagus. Fellow diners raved about the steak burger, sweet potato enchiladas, and the pork schnitzel. We all shared bites and everything was delicious! The atmosphere is great and their is plenty of seating outdoors and in with very attentive, knowledgeable servers. Don't pass this place up ;)

Frazer's is the epitome of excellence and consistency. The food is as good as, or better than, when the restaurant opened in the 1990s. If you like seafood, the mussels are a great appetizer. The portion is large, and the broth is delicious. The seafood pasta is usually a special, and is wonderful. Note that it is rather spicy. It includes mussels, clams, and good-sized shrimp. If you have children, note that Frazer's has an excellent burger on the menu. It comes with mashed potatoes and gravy, but the kitchen will substitute french fries if you (or your child) prefers. As for desserts, the bread pudding is a classic. However, I would also recommend the creme brulee. The caramelized sugar was finished to perfection. Service is professional and friendly. I would highly recommend Frazer's!

My husband and I went to Frazer's for dinner on Saturday to celebrate my birthday. I'm one of "those" people who usually change up and switch out parts of the ordered meal, because I figure what the heck, it's my dinner, right? The atmosphere is great , the bar and bartenders were awesome, as were the cocktails we ordered while waiting for our table (our choice - we got there early). Dinner was fantastic! Appetizers (stuffed dates wrapped in bacon for him, crab cake for me), were amazing. SO nice to get a crab cake with NO breading in it. I continued the seafood theme with a lobster boil, asking if the potatoes and corn could be left out and some other green veggie thrown in it's place. There was no problem with this, and asparagus in a lobster boil is darned near perfect. My spouse got the Pork Schnitzel, and he said it was the best he has ever had. Our waitress was unsure about the wine list (she was new and did a bang-up job otherwise) and had no problem getting a more experienced server to help us out with our choice. Post-dinner coffee and desserts were also amazing. This is definitely in our top three places in STL to go out for a special dinner!

I'm pretty sure I just had the best steak of my entire life here last night. It was an incredibly thick 9 oz. filet cooked to medium rare perfection. What a thing of beauty! Oh, and the oysters were huge and delicious! Frazer's is an interesting place. It's like a casual fine dining atmosphere with a more casual lounge/bar off to the side. They have a fairly extensive menu as is, but they have daily specials that seem to double the menu. And somehow, the servers are able to recite these specials without notes. They also seem to have cheaper prices than most of the fine dining establishments in town. The dining area also has a beautiful view of the brewery and you can often smell the brewing in progress as you walk up to the door. Oh, and the chairs! These might be the most comfortable restaurant chairs in the city. If you don't go for the steak, go for the chairs! I wonder if anyone will go for the chairs.

At first glance, it's Venice Cafe's cousin. Wonderful interior complete with mosaic, rich fabrics and an eclectic feel. The food here is better than most. Handmade breads, sauces and pastas, galore. Great for a date night or a quick lunch. Stop in to the brewery for a free tour, it's a half a block away. The space is limited you may want to make a reservation. The bar/lounge is comfy and cozy. The wine/spirit list and craft beer selection is very nice. Brown bag it to-go if you can't get a seat. You won't be disappointed.

Frazier's has come a long way since it dropped the "brown bag". That night I launched right in with Chorizo Stuffed Dates and Scottish Salmon. The starters were a great beginning. I had a nibble of the carpaccio but it was unfortunately inhaled by my dinner partners in crime before I could a good handle on it. We went on to share the pork tenderloin and the feta and mashed potatoes and a beef kabob special. We all did NOT share dessert. My dream of the perfect bread pudding was close on this one. Very good. There was also a red velvet cake on special that was to DIE FOR. I almost wished I had that instead. Almost. Two bottles of red wine selected by our server was the icing on the cake of a fabulous dinner. Service was awesome. Table as not as great since it was right next to a walk way to the restroom and upstairs dining but I can change that next time I go in. All in all, I was happy with the quality of the food, the service and overall menu selections. Good place to dine on a weekend night or anytime.

It's as if they could just forgo their regular menu because their specials seems so much more interesting. We ordered most of our dishes from the chalkboard: duck salad & lobster boil. I'm wishing I tried the sweet potato enchilada instead. The chorizo stuffed dates from their actual appetizer menu were good, although I didn't get enough date taste. And the key lime pie was delicious. I wish we had a larger party with us so we could have ordered more food and I could taste everything I wanted to, including their homemade ice creams... The only negative thing that I could possibly come up with was that I was seated near an AC vent...but on a super hot August day, most would find this to be a perk. Can't wait to go back!

We came here because the biergarten at anheiser Busch looked gross, and so glad we did. Homemade everything, from the bread to soups, great sandwiches and my dad enjoyed his burger. Nice atmosphere and a really sweet waitress who was on top of it. Sat on the patio, and really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely worth checking out.

Frazer's is a kind of a hidden gem, despite being in operation for twenty years. The atmosphere and location are great and only topped by the food, service, and drinks. I would recommend the seafood, though I've never been disappointed with anything I've had. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the eggs benedict, one of my top 10 dishes in St. Louis. Go here and leave happy.

We came in for a late lunch last week while bumming around the city. It was hot. Granted, it was hot outside and we were sitting in the bar- it was hot- and no one else was sitting in the bar. We ordered 3 local beers on draft, double IPAs and they were less than $2 a piece for part of happy hour! YUMBO. Also, ordered the hummus as a starter, which wasn't on the lunch menu but is a favorite of my daughter's so they kindly accommodated us. It was delicious but the portion was itty bitty! :( All 3 of us order different lunch specials. My SO had the meatloaf special; it was underwhelming but nothing was bad about it. The green beans seemed canned (which I like- don't judge me!!). The mashed potatoes were nice- you could tell they were homemade. The weird thing was that the meatloaf was wrapped in a piece of bacon but it wasn't crispy, it was soggy. My amiga had the lasagna with meat and bechamel sauce. This was definitely the star of our experience! The portion was huge, rich and super flavorful. I was jealous for sure. I tried the muffeleta. As an Italian, it's pretty difficult to impress me as far as muffelletas go; my grandpa makes the best ones ever. Theirs was pretty good though; I like the bread it was on. We definitely got our money's worth and will be back. I hope that their menu includes more appetizer friendly options during lunch because we love to snack.

I went New Years so it may not be the appropriate review for all times. Our group of 14 was impressively seated upon arrival. But then it took 30 minutes from being seated for the first 4 drinks to come, the rest came spread out over 10 minutes which frustrated those without at the table. Drinks were timely from there. Some drinks were good, mojitos didn't have simple syrup or sugar in it, just soda water. Food was at least 4 stars with the exception that 3 of 4 beef/lamb dishes were not cooked to temperature. I was the only one to send my dish back and it was quickly replaced cooked as ordered. The major draw back for the evening was the confusion between with the servers.j John Taffer would not have been pleased. They didn't have a system for knowing who ordered what. Each drink, app, entree, bill required a lot of patience as they attempted to figure it out when it was brought to the table. I might try again on a day that is unlikely to be as busy to see if the service will not bring down what will likely be a tasty meal.

I like the originality of the menu, not at all what I expected and everything was excellent. Nice casual decor but you feel comfortable dressed for fine dining. We dined at 6:30 pm on a Monday and the place was pretty crowded, which of course is a good sign you've picked the right place. Food was great, service very good and we left fat and happy to boot. I plan to return to try the meatloaf because I am sure it's going to be a treat and not at all your average home-cooked meal. They have a small bar, so probably a great place for drinks and appetizers later in the evening too.

Everyone who works at Frazer's is really, really nice. I have "regular" waitress that waits on me in the late afternoons, but she had a different section when I stopped in last night for a quick cocktail. But that wasn't a huge deal because our cocktail waitress was just as lovely. After a very looong day, a good friend and I stopped by the lounge to relax over a cocktail. Did you know that they serve a pretty bad ass $5 glass of dry red wine? We found that out firsthand... And our server was kind enough to leave us alone and let us chit chat (rather than bother us or try to up-sell our drinks). And when I left my card there overnight, they kept it safe in the cash register and let me come back to claim it the next day! Love Frazer's! It's like my "Cheers" :)

I find myself in St. Louis about once or twice a month for work and my colleagues and I LOVE this place. It is the best place to eat in St. Louis we have found, worth the drive from downtown. The food is comprised of quality ingredients and great combinations. Get one of the specials! The menu is not very exciting, but the special list is always long and enticing. Another thing we like this place is they know how to prepare cocktails correctly and have a good wine list, something that is sorely lacking in restaurants of its caliber downtown. In the five times we have been there I have had the skate, seafood broil, duck confit and vegetable enchiladas. ALL have been excellent. I also LOVE their appetizers, favorites being stuffed figs, smoked salmon, beef carpaccio, and the goat cheese salad. Casual dining at its best!

For a happy hour I visited the restaurant to watch the Cardinal game. The place is very upscale with a large arch encased mirror, chandelier, some mosaic tile on the wall and wood bar. They also have a nice small patio and sidewalk cafe area. I had some $2 domestic beer (like Bud Select) and a half priced pizza for $5. The pizza was the only food on special and each day it is different kind. Today the pizza was chicken, portabella mushroom, spinach and mozzarella on thin crust. The mushroom and chicken were sliced in long strips and placed in a outward burst pattern so they were able to slice between the toppings. The look and taste was highly impressive with each bite having chicken or mushroom on this 9" pizza ($5!). I saw they had a $5 lunch special that I will be back to try and probably raise my rating. Now this is a restaurant so they actually put the TV in the corner and facing down the bar, but it was a LCD so the viewing angle was not bad. The crowd around the bar was into the game without being annoying. Since people started describing the Loo... The had a very nice individual restroom. ;-)

Frazer's: A cool little place to just west of Soulard in Benton Park. Known for some of the best happy hour specials around, I always find something good to eat and drink in the lounge. After today's visit I know that I'll be a visiting again sometime very soon. I had the Duck Salad and a cup of Vegi, Cheddar, Chowder. The duck was smoked and was done just right. I typically like my duck seared or grilled to Medium Rare but the smoked was great as well. The salad could have used a better presentation but the flavors were great and the dressing was just right. The soup was among the best chowders I've ever had. Light in body but heavy in the vegis. There might have been some bacon or other pork in the sauce which would have eliminated this as a vegi dish but I wasn't complaining. I also didn't ask it there was any. I had a glass of wine with lunch as well. They have happy hour wines during lunch for $5. It's hard to say no to that. We all sat at the bar with Savannah and although quiet she was very nice and attentive. I really appreciate the attention to the decor and some of the subtle details in the restaurant. I look forward to revisiting Frazer's in the future.

Through the power of Yelp I discovered this restaurant while on a short road trip through St.Louis. Unlike some of the other places I visited while in town, my fellow Yelpers didn't let me down. Offering an extensive menu with options suitable for vegans and vegetarians, this restaurant seems like a nice upscale/funky place to have dinner. Servers are very helpful/knowledgeable and can make substitutions to most menu items if you have special dietary needs. I was able to eat the fried green tomato app minus crab thanks to my helpful waitress. My sweet potato enchilada vegetarian entree was really good, too. My boyfriend enjoyed a seafood special which consisted of an entire ear of corn, king crab legs, and misc. veggies. I should have taken a picture of it. His meal was huge. I definitely think this restaurant is a neat place to go to for a "nice" dinner.

I have been here a few times over the years and I have found it to be consistently good and interesting food. I like the Morrocan tilapia as a general rule, marinated in charmoula (anything cilantro makes me happy) it is served with couscous with almonds and raisins and some harissa (hot pepper and garlic paste). So flavorful. Other than this I suggest diving into a special as they are numerous and generally good. The duck breast salad at lunch is super tasty with the pomegranate vinaigrette. It leaves plenty of room for either the creme brulee, bread pudding with whiskey sauce or delish chocolate torte. Service has always been good and I like the atmosphere. Things can be pricey but you can also find deals if you look, especially in the lounge. All things considered I really like it here.

Frazer's strikes such an amazing and unique balance of spacious but cozy, classy yet eclectic, and gourmet yet still comfort food. It just celebrated 20 years in Benton Park, which is thrilling for those of that live right around it! I remember when it was a tiny one storefront place that had great dinner yet also specialized in "brown bag" lunches for nearby business like AB. It now takes up about 5 storefronts, has an upstairs private party room, and two outdoor areas. Several nights a week there are great happy hours, often with free apps (good ones, too, like hummus, meatballs, and spring rolls!). A lot of their beer specials are still an homage to AB, not my thing, but all good. Still plenty more to choose from. There are only a few food staples actually listed on the menu, the rest are daily specials on a chalkboard that include soups, salads, apps, main courses, and desserts depending on what is in season. They have a summer salad that is a favorite- homegrown tomato, ripe avocado, red onion, and more with fresh cumin seeds and cumin vinaigrette. Simple ingredients, but an amazing result. Shrimp and grits or a kabob are great starters with everything cooked to just the right temp with perfect seasoning. Their pastas and seafood are always delicious- Salmon Frazer is a long time house specialty and one of my favorites that I crave at least once a month. Meat loaf, duck, and fried chicken are top notch for those looking for the above mentioned quality comfort food. Homemade ice cream during the summer is a special treat- banana, coffee, chocolate habanero, etc. Service is always excellent. Frazer and his wife frequently make the rounds and are both so friendly and down to earth. A conversation with Frazer is a real treat- he is so eloquent and laid back that you feel like you are being bathed in good energy. Most of the servers have been there for years, always a good sign of a quality establishment. I've met their husbands, wives, kids, celebrated their 20th restaurant anniversary with them, watched the presidential election results, the Cards win the World Series, etc. it's that kind of place while still being a high end restaurant as well. Great combination!

If I could rate zero stars I would! Reserved and paid deposit for the upstairs room 3 months ago. Had custom invites made and rsvps were received. The event coordinator and Frazer must have decided something better came along because I was told two weeks before the event the upstairs room was "no longer available". No real apology, no empathy for the fact that our event was ruined. A pretty crappy way to do business, super unprofessional, and if they are so careless with something so simple, I can only speculate how careless they are with aspects like food prep and sanitation. Do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere.

5 stars for the service. 2 stars for the food (or the bread pudding, at least!) I came here on a sunny spring afternoon. The weather was perfect, and I wanted nothing more than to sit on the patio and nom on a huge hunk of bread pudding. Luckily for me, Frazer's had both. This nifty little spot is located on Pestalozzi street. It's a stone's throw away from the brewery. Anyway, back to my visit. I was immediately seated outside on their patio. Nice. I went with the bread pudding, which was a milk and white chocolate creation, topped with a healthy dose of whipped cream. I had high hopes for this BP, but unfortunately, I was let down. The flavor was pretty decent; I loved the milk chocolate chunks (but couldn't taste any white chocolate). However, the texture was WAY off. The top was crispy; almost hard. And the middle was soggy and custard-y. A lot of people like soft, custard-like bread pudding. I'm not one of them. The service was FANTASTIC. My waitress was super friendly, helpful, and ridiculously bubbly. I wasn't having the best day, but I couldn't help but smile at her. She was good. I think I'd come back to Frazer's to try a few items on their menu. Prices seemed really reasonable. I'll be back for sure.

I want to say first that I steered clear of this place for a couple of years because I had a bad experience here back then. My friend asked me to go with him so I figured enough time had past to give them another shot. I am very glad I did. We sat at the bar and had wine and small plates. The staff was very helpful (not to mention hot) and all of the people sitting at the bar were very chatty and nice. They had a great wine selection and some good snack foods (bacon wrapped dates!). I mentioned my previous bad experience to the bartender and she was apologetic and more than made up for it with her great service. Before we left the owner even stopped by to make sure everything went well for us. I am very glad I came back because this is a great restaurant.

I was originally going to have dinner at Venice Cafe just down the street the other night, but after getting the good word that they don't serve food right now, my good friend and I landed here based on proximity and some consistently good reviews. Congrats, you were all right about this place! ;) Even though it was one of those ridiculous nights where it's still almost 90 degrees at 9 pm, we sat outside on the patio. Unless it's raining bricks or there's a raging turf war going on between rival gangs, I will almost always choose the patio or the sidewalk over the indoor seating. Which leads me to Rhett. It was his first night serving at Frazer's, and I always cringe a little inside when I get that little nugget of info early on during a dinner service. And the poor guy had to stand there and recite what has got to be the longest list of specials I have ever heard in my life...there were seriously about 20 of them...craziness! He powered through it though, and I applaud his perseverance. :P On to the food...I was torn between the brie and fruit plate and the chorizo stuffed dates that I heard so much about on here, but wound up choosing the former. I also had the goat cheese salad and then duck confit for my entree . All of it was just really terrific...can't think of even one complaint about the food, service, atmosphere...but jesus people, shorten that damn list of specials! I mean, I had a full beer when the list started and was really close to ordering another one by the time it was over...but that might be more of a personal problem than one the restaurant needs to deal with. I previously loved this restaurant but returned this week and was very disappointed at the food quality. We had the stuffed dates which were amazing as always however my meatloaf was served with canned/frozen green beans and corn. The canned vegetables weren't even seasoned. I think the gravy on my mashed potatoes was canned too. I was really shocked because this place has always impressed me. A guest from out of town had a burger and the bun was too hard to eat. My husband had pasta and loved it. Maybe the chiefs had an off night. A little leery to return.

Frazers is by far my favorite place in St. Louis! They have a wonderful lounge area that is intimately decorated with hanging lights and warm colors that give you such an at ease feeling! Its nestled on a side street in benton park and located very close to the brewery. Their lounge windows/doors open on nice days out and the inside turns into outside. They have awesome drink/food specials every day of the week and on special occasions (opening day, mardi gras, 4th of july, etc) Their food has such great thought that goes into it! Almost everything here is made in house which is amazing, try the chorizo stuffed dates! They have a standard menu and also a menu that changes everyday! $5 lunch specials during the day! Wonderful atmosphere, a must try, and i guarantee you'll want to come back!

I've been here twice in the past two weeks and both times the food and service has been just amazing! Dinner here last week was the night before Thanksgiving. Met a few friends there, we had dinner upstairs. For appetizers we had some oysters, mussels and shrimp, a cheese plate and something else I can't remember. I ordered the filet for dinner and it was delicious! Also ordered an after dinner drink and salted caramel ice cream which was equally amazing. Lunch yesterday was just as fabulous! My neighbor and I were playing hooky so we ordered a bottle of wine and treated ourselves to a yummy lunch. I had the steakburger with feta cheese and fries and it was a good choice. We finished off lunch with an order of the flan that had a hint of lavender flavor to it. YUM. I love the atmosphere here and upon leaving saw their happy hour specials to which I will be returning for again very soon! It also helps that one of my friends is a manager here :)

Horrible Service! We were looking for outdoor seating and this was suggested. We arrived later in the evening and waited to be seated outside. No communication between the wait staff and the host. The host was rude and gave us dirty looks. It seemed he had planned to sit at the table that had been promised to our group. When seated, we waited and waited as server after server told us that our server would be right with us. Food was mediocre. Horrible smell from would waft towards our table...presuming from the sewer. Rude Service from the host warrants this one star rating. Very unwelcoming.

Big Arnold took me here for my 30th Bday slash New Year's dinner. We were going out to a denim ball later, and although he chickened out and prevented us from being the evening's quadruple denim power couple, we at least turned it out at Frazers as a three fourths denim dynasty. Our res's were early so that we could make all of our stops the rest of the night, and we started things off at the bar with some red wine. As we were led up stairs to sit, I found it slightly odd that they would sit us, who were the only other table to sit, right next to a large table of about eight people. Like, right next door to their elbows. But, no matter, after a great recommendation from the waiter, we settled on a fab bottle of red and ordered the lamb chops and king crab boil from the limited nye menu. Oh, and we got the mussels for the app. The mussels were great except some of them were very seafood tasting while some of them were super yum. Of course we shared each other's dinners..the chops were substantial in size and cooked perfectly medium rare. The king crab was so sweet and juicy and the broth everything was complimented nicely. And the feta mashed potatoes the chops were bedded on were amazing! I'm going to try making them myself. For dessert I got the bread pudding with bourbon sauce. It was warm and hearty but a little dry for my taste. You know I like my pudding to be all gooey and sticky. Frazer's had balloons all over the dining room ceiling which was cute. Halfway through dinner a pink one came down to join us. After stealing that helium, we grabbed another one for the way out!

My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new for date night, so we decided on Frazer's. All in all, it was an okay experience. Nothing spectacular. I ordered a chicken dish that was basically just grilled chicken over rice, which I feel as though I could have made at home. The taste was just kind of bland. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and shrimp pasta which was decent but pretty bland as well. Frazer's is decent, but it's nothing to really write home about.

My first time at frazers and I had a wonderful time! Went with a couple of friends started with a drink at the bar the gentleman bartender with the beard was very friendly and quick considering how busy the bar was( every seat was taken). From there I moved to the patio for dinner I love eating outdoors and I loved the lively atmosphere. Blake was our server he was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. He recited all of the off the menu specials without stammering which impressed me being there was a few. We started with the BBQ shrimp wich were fantastic then had the red snapper special for dinner with the feta mash. Everything was so delicious. A+ on everything including Blake's service I have to admit his personality added a little something extra to the dining experience, I haven't had service like that in a while. Classy. Great Service. GREAT food. Great Atmosphere. Moderate prices. Original dishes. Frazer's has all of these and more, which makes it one of the best restaurants in St. Louis. I don't even know where to begin, because I love everything here. The specials. Frazer's has just as many specials every single night as the do regular menu items, and they are always coming up with new favorites on the menu. If you are looking for a best kept secret, this place is one of the most underrated seafood restaurants in town. I've had the Salmon Frazer, and it is excellent - fresh, great flavor. Another best kept secret at Frazer's is the STEAKBURGER!!!! Quite possibly the best burger I have ever eaten. Ever. Steak and Shake needs to take a lesson, becuase, because this is a real steakburger. They make it fresh there at Frazer's, and it is juicy, succulent, and full of flavor. I've had the steak, the duck, the meatloaf, the chicken - and many more and I feel like I haven't even tried half of the great dishes Frazer's has. What more can hungry guy ask for!?! The wine list is fairly extensive and the drinks are fairly priced, and I've heard the bartender makes a pretty original drink, but I haven't tried it. I am always so impressed by the servers here. There is always at least 10-12 specials from salads, soups, and entrees, and the servers can always describe each one in very fine and intricate detail. Best service staff in St. Louis. They almost always offer a vegetarian and vegan option, so they cater to all crowds. With the brewery in the backdrop, this place breathes St. Louis like no other place in town. I just can't say enough good things about this place. If I had a restaurant, I would want it to be Frazer's. If I ever get to meet this person who they call Frazer, my only words would be "Well Done Sir."

So my date would not stop raving about this place. I kid you not I was more excited than a kid in a candy store to go. Upon walking in it was really a cute little place. The lighting was casual the wood floors were rustic and the random artwork on the walls made it have a personality. Dinner was not so great. I ordered a pasta special with sun-dried tomatoes and chicken. The sauce was very thin and oily, it didn't really coat the pasta the way I had hoped. My eating partner was chomping on a steak that left a bit to be desired. Although the food was not knock my socks off and I wasn't leaving with a good feeling, I did think I will have to return to give them another try. Maybe it was an off night or maybe I went for the wrong items.

I'm on a mission to hit each of the restaurants in and around my neighborhood. Because I live in Benton Park, this should be enjoyable. Thus far it has. I hit Frazer's up last night. One, it was open on a Monday. Two, from yelper's, it should be good. I'm not at all disappointed. We decided to to an appitizer night - you know, skip the 9oz filet, and do the american tapas... Four apps, four wins. Vino - duh - we're out of the gates (good bottle of zin, not expensive). Started off with the seafood chowder (in a cup, told it was filling ... is was) - excellent. Check 1 Continued with Carpaccio - nice - not the best, but way up there. Check 2 Made the turn with the mixed grill kabob, this one was really a winner. Subtle mix of seafood and meat - really worked well. Check 3 The final stretch was Oysters on the half shell (six, not twelve). Amazingly fresh - I mean really - here we are in St. Louis and these critters were digging only hours ago. This was a wonderful meal, in a great environment. So far, I'm really loving the Benton Park restaurant scene.

Frazer's is one of my favorite places to eat in one of my favorite neighborhoods in St. Louis. While Frazer's could be considered more "upscale" dining, it is definitely not pretentious. It is a place you can come all dressed up, or come casual. I love the cozy feel of the lounge and dining area. Small tables and a chalk board listing the evening's specials along with a couch area to have drinks by the bar. They have a great wine list, and the menu changes nightly to accomodate seasonal or local changes. Each server explains the specials in detail...I especially love Patrick...It's almost like a theatrical performace as he decribes each dish! His passion for the food oozes out like a mouth-watering poetic melody. The food is fresh and delicious, and they have a good variety if you're dining with guests. From steak eaters to vegetarians, they should have a dish to fit everyone's tastes. Some of my favorite apps include the mushroom strudel and scottish salmon. My husband loves the chorizo stuffed dates. As for entrees, they always have great fish selections and even have a King Crab boil that's huge! Frazer's does lots of extras for events. We went this year for New Year's with a group and they had a FREE oyster bar and appetizer buffet! I've been wanting to go for happy hour specials for a while now, but can't seem to make it over in time. Go alone, go with friends, but request Patrick and you're sure to have a great time!

You're heading down Lemp. You come to the crossroads at Pestalozzi. Which way do you go? Venice Cafe to the left (p. 73)? Or Frazer's (p. 123)? (yeah, if you read "Choose Your Own Adventure books, you'll get it. If not, just read on). The beautiful wife and I appear to be making a point of hitting all the Yelp Eats! venues previous to Yelp Eats! week. Go figure. But tonight took us to Frazer's. Executive summary: Food cost more than booze (a rarity); food was delicious; service was at a near breaking point of "I'm turning into my father and I'm going to have a freakout." OK, maybe not that bad, but enough that I just can't give them more than 3 stars. 1) Chorizo stuffed dates. Just read Mike T.'s description. It sums it up quite nicely. 2) Meatloaf -- after having the chorizo in the dates, when the beautiful wife and I saw the meatloaf had a chorizo component, it had to be ordered. This wasn't my grandmother's meatloaf -- it had a lighter texture and flavor about it. Unfortunately, it didn't have any of the spice from the chorizo. Should have known better. Plus, it comes with corn (appeared to be freshly scraped off the cob), mashed potatoes and gravy (decent), and green beans (cooked to death, maybe there was a grandmother back in the kitchen?) Anyway, it was fine, but post-dinner, there was that "jeez, I spent $12.95 on that?" 3) Flourless chocolate torte - freaking delicious. 4) Service -- as the beautiful wife noted, there was a John Daly issue. Not the golfer, but the drink. Long story short, we ordered John Daly's and received lemonade with Absolut. No, that's not a John Daly. That's a "Lemonade with Vodka." A John Daly has sweet tea vodka and lemonade. Hell, it even has a Wiki page ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo… ). Anyway, I had to bring the drinks up to the bar to have an uncomfortable conversation with the bartender. I'm already bored with this story, but it ended up working out fine. Just some minor surliness from the bartender and some uncomfortable conversation with our server. It's just one of those things that you feel everything cringing and hoping somebody doesn't end up pooping in your food. I don't think that happened. Beyond that, service was decent, but... 6) Specials -- I love specials. It's a chance for the kitchen to do something other than the routine, though some will say it's a chance for them to get rid of stuff that's about to expire. My issue here is our server was pretty much forced to recite a list of specials that was at least eight items long. And you got this sense that she was hoping we'd tell her to stop at some point. And we did (when she begrudgingly was going to start mentioned the vegetarian options). As Lea Ann noted in her review, they fail to mention prices when going through the reviews. So, you're forced to guess at what the prices might be. And if you get something called "Alaskan King Crab boil" just remember you're not at the Long John Silver's drive thru. 7) The bread -- so you get bread with your meal. And they give you nice soft butter. So far, so good. And it's not just all "normal" bread -- there was at least one type that had peppers in it. Awesome! But then on the second plate of bread (hey, I'm a glutton), we received... Cinnamon raisin bread. WTF? It wasn't breakfast. And I was dipping the bread in wife's food (again, I'm a glutton), so cinnamon raisin wasn't going to work. Anyway, I'm just finding things to bitch about. I'm sure we'll come back for the dates (they're really that great) and drinks, but I'm not sure for what else.

I had high hopes for Frazer's. Everything was just decent. I wonder if they're a little too ambitious. The food was definitely acceptable but i certainly didnt love anything. The dates were pretty good, but dont live up to the hype. Our waiter was either rude or just extremely socially awkward. Tough call, but either way is not someone who should be in a service position. The patio was pleasant, and we didn't feel any pressure to hurry up and finish our bottle of wine. It was definitely an enjoyable experience but not because of the food or the service, only because of the weather and the company I was in.

Frazer's is a great place to go in a fun area for yummy food. I was at Frazer's for a holiday party and we were all seated on the top floor with our personal bar area and it was fantastic. The whole office was impressed with the set up as well as the food and dining experience overall. Even though we had a limited amount of menu options to chose from everything seemed to be great. The options were the famous Salmon Frazer, the strip steak, the chicken florentine, and a veggie option. Everything was great. The appetizers that were served were great as well, especially the hummus and the veggie roll us. YUM YUM. I had the salmon Frazer and wow- it was delicious. The streak also looked phenomenal. Overall, I would say Frazer's is a great place to dine out, experience the fun atmosphere, and leave with a more then satisfied belly and mind.

Ah, the food was really good: my Moroccan tilapia was tasty, my friends halibut was nice, another friend who ordered steak kept commenting on how nice the steak was and how much of it there was. Best key lime pie I have ever had - better than what I had in Key West. Drawback: lots of noise. No tablecloths, and the chairs where not upholstered. Nothing to absorb sound. Other drawback: after receiving a check for the whole table, we asked the waiter to split the check. We never got the full check back - so, we could not check to see if our split checks added up to the full amount, or added up to more than the full amount...

The place has good atmosphere and holds it's own even though it's sandwiched between two local icons (brewery and Venice Cafe). If for nothing other than the atmosphere and extensive specials menu, this place is a great find. A group of 7 of us decided to try something after our monthly wine tasting and it was definitely worth it. The decor has an island theme, but not overdone. There are great lounge areas and outdoor seating which makes is a great happy hour and after dinner drink place. Great dirty martini's, kinda crappy tonic for mixed drinks, and a decent on tap selection. Food was good for about 80% of the table, and the specials menu was the big hit. Tuesday special was discounted pizza and pasta choices along with 7 main course specials and a few starters to boot. Personally I had the Asparagus Salmon pasta from the standard menu and it was a big hit. Other specials included steak frites, a hearty king crab boil, and a moroccan tilapia/mahi mahi option. Overall I'll summarize with great atmosphere, diverse but complete menu, and good service. I would definitely put this on your "must try" list.

Awesome food. Be sure and try the chorizo stuffed date appetizer and the lettuce wraps for starters. We have had multiple entrees and they have all been excellent. The extensive specials are always creative and tasty. This is one place my husband and I repeatedly have the experience of having too many great choices. Good problem to have. The bar is not great, though. They consistently make drinks either too sweet (e.g. Gun gimlet with way too much sweet lime) or just "blah." Wine list is nice. We've tried several wines and not been disappointed.

Some friends and I hit up Frazer's for a late dinner Tuesday evening. The menu is large, and the specials menu (writen on a chalkboard in the dining area) was extensive. It was hard to pick! I ended up with one of the specials (the crab boil), which I thought was great....until I got the check! I wish I had known the price before ordering. Others at the table also enjoyed their food. Service was generally good...drinks came out quick and our server was attentive, but not overly so. I'm glad I tried Frazer's...but, it didn't make my favorites list.

My boyfriend and I stopped in on our way out of town based on a reccomendation from a local....he advised, "It's not cheap but it's not expensive and when my parents are in town I always take them there". Seemed like a pretty good endorsement to me right? Well WRONG. Two things bugged me enough to have LEFT the restaurant after an appetizer. ONE, the horribly uncomfortable chairs. My boyfriends chair was broken, and my chair was just digging into the backs of my thighs. (to explain- the chairs consist of a loose leather hammock "thingie" held in place by two metal bars on either side) your rear end is kind of squished toward the middle while the metal bars push into the sides of your thighs. Sounds fun eh? I could not deal with the thought of sitting there for an hour in total discomfort while eating. TWO, while very informative (in a kind of Christopher Walken way) about the specials of the evening, our waiter never mentioned a single price. I could only guess at the price of the specials based on the menu prices....which were VERY expensive. We tried several times to suggest that we needed to leave but felt pressured by our waiter to order "something" which we did, reluctantly. We ate our nine dollar mushroom strudel, which was really small for a 9 dollar appetizer.....and quickly made an excuse to leave. I would not have been miffed about the prices if I had known what they were...but the chairs are totally unacceptable. No one above a toddler size could possibly be comfortable in them. The owner must be a moron for keeping these chairs after so many people have complained! Get some new chairs and tell your customers how much the specials cost.

My husband and I went for an anniversary celebration. Liked the funky decor and friendly service that was attentive but not overbearing. The pesto tilapia was a great paleo option and my husband enjoyed a pork and bacon special. I had the bread pudding dessert which was only so-so and my husband enjoyed the peanut butter ice cream. The noise level was pretty high in the side room in which we sat, owing mainly to a group of med students(?) discussing cadavers. Not Frazer's fault but, hey, you never know what to expect.

Never a disappointment coming here. The Food: Comfort and delicious. There is a wide range of options even for the pickiest eater. In short... it's eccentric variety, imaginative, attractively presented and delicious. If you are not a fan of what is on the menu, the chalkboard holds many specials, often more than the menu itself. The food is excellent. The specials are amazing and eclectic. The deserts are phenomenal and the atmosphere is funky and not at all pretentious. Even the prices are spot on and not so expensive. Pair all of this with excellent mixed drinks and a solid wine list, and I generally am a very happy girl. Frazer's practically has everything I could want in a restaurant. So why the four stars you ask? Well....here's the thing. I am not a tiny girl mind you, but I don't need to be lifted from my home by a crane either. That said, not being a size 4, I have to make a comment on these chairs. The chairs are some kind of leather and metal concoction that dip down about 4 inches in the middle when you sit in them. Basically, it's a hammock for your bottom, but not a very wide one. I sat in them for 2 hours and the next day, the sides of my legs were covered in vertical bruises. Not pretty. This was the general complaint of my party, as half of us were stuck sitting in these torture chambers disguised as chairs. Please, get rid of these chairs...burn them, destroy them, I do not care. In the meantime, please for the love of God, if you are above a size 4, request a booth.

I went here to get drinks with a few friends. We sat near the bar on a long couch-like thing. There were random pillows everywhere, and it was pretty relaxed and comfortable to just chat over a few drinks. My friend was drinking a French martini, and not being in a beer mood, I ordered one as well. It tasted pretty strong, which I liked. The bartender was very nice and very professional. He even came over to where we were sitting a few times to see if we needed more drinks--great service. We didn't have any food, but I really enjoyed myself at their bar. And I'll definitely be back to try the food sometime. We were there for a while, and I at times was slightly inattentive and started looking around at the decor. It was eclectic, which isn't really my thing mostly because it's so hard to do well. Around the bar, they have a lot of hanging paper lanterns, a string of bright pink lights, a disco ball, and a chandelier. Behind the bar is a large stone arch with a mirror, which looked very cool. There are a couple tables with rolling chairs, and there's the area with the couch and tons of pillows, where we were sitting. Going from the bar area toward the kitchen, there is an archway in the brick wall, and around the arch there is black concrete on the wall with glass marbles in it. Before we left, I went to the bathroom. It was very dimly lit with black concrete on the walls with glass marbles and circle mirrors all over, and the toilet was black. It was all very odd--it just seemed like it was trying too hard. (I don't consider decor in rating a place though. I just thought I'd describe it.)

I usually end up getting whatever the special is that day because there's never a bad option. I've had everything ranging from pizza to pasta to sandwiches and have never been disappointed. My spring in St. Louis only lasts for a month, five weeks, really. There are some restaurants that I *have to visit while I'm here. Frazer's is one of them. And last night was the night. The occasion? A successful mid-year review for a friend. The night? One of the stormiest in STL since I've been home - and a downed tree for the aforementioned friend. We started celebrating with a house-warming bottle of wine after a three-day move; I'd say we arrived Frazer's by 8? Wednesday night, no wait. We were greeted immediately, seated promptly, and presented with menus. Their leather chairs are unusual and can be uncomfortable or perfect; we had to swap out our original set for the pair at the adjacent table. Wednesday nights bring prix fixe: 3 or 4 courses as you please. My dining companion mixed & matched the 3-course; I ordered off the specials board. The prix fixe is a value, but the entrees this evening just weren't to my taste. Peter started with a massive wedge of a runny brie-ish French cheese, served with something like a crispy unleavened flour bread, thin-sliced apples, and strawberry. Awesome cheese. Massive portion, plenty for two people, too much for only one. His avocado chicken entree was a lot of food, heaps of avo, but only a B for presentation in my book. Fun jicama salad, though; I sampled. And for dessert it was a variation on an apple (fruit?) crisp, forgive me for forgetting the menu names of the items. Again, gargantuan portion for one person and really even more than enough for the two of us, but it was served hot with a dollop of whipped cream and was absolutely luscious. Better than any of his trio, though, I have to say, was my pork tenderloin. There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to try - the Thai lettuce wraps, the chorizo-stuffed dates - I had to invoke self-control to resist the gluttonous impluses brought on by the specials board. I asked the server whether to go for the Moroccan tilapia, which I know and love, or the roasted pork tenderloin. On her enthusiastic recommendation I ordered the latter, and wow, so satisfied. Pork tenderloin, topped with white wine shallot reduction and garlic confit, served with sweet potatoe fries and sauteed spinach. Spinach was awesome! Pork was awesome! Tender, moist, great flavor. Sweet potato fries - these are on the menu EVERYWHERE this summer, but Frazer's does a better job that most with a rather ordinary tuber. Beverages were a glass of sweet Riesling for him and the Peirano Petite Sirah for me. Loved it, soft and supple - I'd order a bottle. I think they have a great wine list and can always find something fun and tasty to try. Final thoughts: 1) Smoking is allowed in the bar. I never even caught a whiff of it in the dining room, and I'm super-sensitive to cigarette exhaust. 2) It gets noisy. Full, the main room is loud. Even if the only other table is an exuberant group of 10 celebrating a birthday, it is still noisy. 3) Our server criticized one of the menu items. While I suppose I ought to appreciate her frankness, I found it inappropriate. Subtleness would have been more classy. That said, she was attentive. Love Frazer's. You will, too.

It has to be difficult to own a restaurant that sits in the looming shadow of the infamous Venice Cafe. Not that, at the end of the day, Venice is something so special that you can't possibly coincide with them, but imagine how difficult it would be to get people to notice your brand new taupe-colored siding if your next door neighbor had decorated their house in a glittery mosaic of jazz hands and rainbows. Now yes, Frazer's may not be the kind of place where you can pay for a sandwich with a song, but honestly I'm not really one to sing in public anyway. Their atmosphere is formal enough to match their amazing food but not too stuffy so that you feel you have to dress up or can't relax. Their servers are also friendly and knowledgeable and I have found them to be very helpful when deciding what to order. It's nice to have someone who can explain the specials in an authoritative way without talking over your head or being pushy with the up-sell. On a recent trip to Frazer's, we brought an out-of-town guest there for the first time. The goal was to kick back, have a few drinks and have a delicious but "normal" meal. We absolutely accomplished this goal at Frazer's. For starters we had the cheese plate and the chorizo stuffed dates. Both dishes were very flavorful and a great start to the meal. Among the three of us at the table our order consisted of only items from the special's board. I personally had the sweet potato enchiladas and holy crap they were good! You will not hear me say that often about a vegetarian item but I will definitely have those again. Ok, now let me go back to the chorizo stuffed dates... I order this dish every single time that I go to Frazer's and I don't see me changing this pattern anytime soon. Frazer and his crew are doing some amazing things here with, to be quite honest, a food item that I have long since avoided, the date. You get 4 of what looks like a small meatball, in a spicy tomato sauce. Not having seen how they make these, I won't even begin to act like I know how they're prepared but let me sum it up for you: they take a ball full of MAGIC and wrap it in a strip of BACON. Yes, I said it, BACON! Simultaneously you taste a little spicy, from the chorizo, sweet, from the date, salty from the bacon, and acidic from the tomato sauce, in what is an incredibly delicate balance of awesome flavors. I could honestly go on about the stuffed dates for hours but all I really need to say is get off your butt, trek out in the snow (it's worth it) and get yourself and order of your own. Now! Oh yeah, they have beers and cool stuff like that too. Be sure to get your drink on while you're at it. Bacon!

This is one of my favorite places to go on those random nights when I haven't planned ahead and want something nice but not too nice. The atmosphere can be disconcerting -- the outside patio is lovely, but inside the chairs are a little uncomfortable and the layout makes it seem like I'm always seated next to the kitchen or the bathroom. But the food is always great. I love the sweet potato enchiladas, which are often one of the many specials offered, but I've never been disappointed with anything I order.

Went here for the first time with an out of town guest. I not only love the renaissance that is/has been happening in the Benton Park neighborhood, but Frazer's was a wonderful find. Most of the menu was given to us verbally from our server, as they have many specials per night. We started with a cheese plate and the stuffed dates (just as good as we had heard). The wine list was extensive and the server was helpful. We each had something different and tried one another's. The meatloaf from the menu was so rich and flavorful. There was a seafood pasta special with a creamy tomato sauce and generous with the seafood and we also had a pork special that was comfort food at its best. I love the patio and I am already looking forward to sitting outside again in the spring. Thank you Frazer's!

I have eaten at Frazer's twice now and each meal had it's up-side and down-side. To start, the cheese plate with house made crackers and fruit is WONDERFUL and was the best part of both of my experiences. The entrees that I ordered left me unimpressed. The roasted chicken was a bit oily and a tad flavorless. So on my second visit I had the Strip Steak Adobo ordered Medium and it was completely under cooked. My server was surprised at how undercooked it was! The up side was that it came back cooked correctly the second time around. Frazer's has a nice relaxed atmosphere. I will give it another try.

I love this place. I've been going here since it was Frazer's Travelling Brown Bag in one small room 15 years ago! My fav thing is still the Garden Linguini. If it's not on the menu, ask and they can make it for you. I love their creative email specials and that they really work hard to get and keep your business -- great customer service! Delicious food, and the prix-fixe menu is one of the best deals in town. Worth the drive, wherever you live. It's great for a casual meal or a special occasion too. And I highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert.

Frazer's has never let me down in the almost 10 years I've been going there. I do understand the chair issue for some, but it's never been a problem for me. Their food is reliably good and prepared to order. They will go out of their way to do things off-the-menu if you require. Their numerous specials are generally a good bet. This was an awesome find. We tried going to Shaved Duck but there was over an hour wait and they didn't seem interested in us being there. We were famished so we did a quick Yelp search to find something else in the area. SO glad we came to Frazer's. I called and they put us down for a reservation and we walked in and were seated immediately. Got a glass of the house wine which was very tasty and began looking at the menu. Ordered the kebab skewer to start with and devoured it as soon as it got to the table. It was really good. He ordered the crab boil and I got swordfish. It was really good. Really meaty. Never knew what I was missing before this. I practically licked my plate clean. I could have used a little more sauce, because it was so tasty. That's my only complaint. He loved the crab boil and it was really reasonably priced given that we're nowhere near an ocean. Didn't have time for dessert because we were headed to meet some friends, but all in all a great expedited experience. The server was patient and friendly and helpful and made sure we were fed and happy. I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others.

My wife and I went for dinner this past Friday (10/1/10). We both have seen the Frazers sign from I55 but never dined there, so we thought we'd give it a try. Ok, so here it goes. The food we had was fantastic and the service delightful. Let me put it this way: Stuffed Dates - A+, Cheese Board - A+, Mushrooms in the phyllo dough - A+, Chorizo Meatloaf wrapped in bacon entree - A+, Alison, our waitress for the evening - A+, and the Pistachio Cake - Hell Yeah A+! great food with few disappointments. the great thing about this restaurant is there is something for EVERYONE - with a large menu, there is always also a ton of additional specials. here's the rundown on what our party ate: zucchini rolls (special): ehh...couldn't taste whatever was rolled in the center carpaccio: honestly, one of the best i've ever had asparagus cheddar soup (special): good, cheesy soup - not much asparagus watermelon salad: yumm - 3 large slices of watermelon! tomato salad: super fresh and great vinegarette! pear endive salad: tasty if you like the bitterness of endives blackened mahi (special): fish was cooked perfectly and the sesame dressing was excellent steak frites (special): steak was cooked perfectly and the homemade fries were really good moroccan tilapia (special): tasted a lot like curry with a hint of spicyness pizza with turkey sausage: i am not a fan of turkey sausage, but i thought this was really good roasted pork tenderloin: perfectly cooked pork with sauteed spinach (a bit too salty) and yummy sweet potato fries ginger cherry pie: pie crust could've been better, but the filling was excellent creme brulee: one of the best i've ever had!

wow, how does this place not have more than two reviews? come on people, you've got to get in on this shit. we just had a really great & really expensive meal at Frazer's. We found it based on a recommendation from one of my coworkers; a dude Sue calls "Old Young Man." Because he's pretty young, but dresses like an old man. Hence the mashup name. Anyways, he's never steered us wrong and tonite was no different. The atmosphere is cool. Kinda eclectic. Some of the stuff doesn't work as well as others, but whatever, as my boy Alton Brown says "I'm just here for the food." In a moment of gluttony, we each ordered an appetizer - mussels & the mushroom tart thingie. Mussels were a little gamey, but holy christ on a stick was the mushroom thingie good. Mushrooms and feta and other junk baked inside a perfect filo crust. Made me happy in the pants. For the entrees we got the lavender duck (anyone else realize how the d & the f keys being so close together could really alter this review?) and the king crab boil. the duck was perfect. I didn't get to try a lot of it because Sue stabbed my hand when I got too close. So, from a distance, it looked impressive. It was seriously half a duck. Typically a place will throw you a slivered duck breast and call it a night. Not here, my friends. you got half the bird and it was all good. The King Crab Boil was interesting. I don't use interesting as a synonym for "I don't have the balls to tell you it sucked." I genuinely mean interesting. Swimming in a light, buttery broth was andouille sausage, a few potatoes, a whole corn complete with cob, some string beans, a few shrimp, some clams & mussels and a gigantic king crab leg. The funny thing was the crab claw was holding its own lemon. So considerate to assist me in it's own digestion. I defnitely would've thrown the last star up there for the perfect review, but A) the chairs were really uncomfortable and B) they prop themselves up as an "Earth-friendly restaurant" and then they send the leftovers home in styrofoam containers. Such is life.

I had been wanting to try Frazer's for awhile now and will just say the atmosphere made the night for me. I went with a group of friends (7 total) for dinner. We were waiting for a few, so we grabbed a drink at the bar first. I have to say that although the bar was not crowded, it was the fastest service I've had from a bartender in awhile (a major plus in my book!) Drinks came quickly and although I did not sample, a friend said the dirty vodka martini was one of the best he has had. We sat down to dinner and ordered the cheese plate, Scottish salmon, and an appetizer special, Thai lettuce wraps. All were nice, but nothing to write home about. I will say, the wide range of specials, from appetizers to main dishes had me intrigued, but I was in a burger kind of mood, so I went with my gut...should've gone with a special. The burger was overdone even for medium (I was told they would prepare it medium or more, not medium-rare as I like) and rather dry. The bun was nice, but nothing special either. I subbed fries for the mashed potatoes and they were also so-so. I'm giving Frazer's 3 stars because everyone else was overly satisfied with their meals, and the atmosphere (plus their happy hour deals!) makes me want to come back and try again!

End of an era, so sad. My boyfriend and I have been regulars at Frazer's for the past 5 years and would often recommend to our friends. The atmosphere, superior cocktails, attention to detail and incredible ingredients have always made this place a special romantic haven for us. Last night, however, was a sad example of what has happened the last few times we have visited Frazer's. Our waiter was sloppy, moving way too quickly, and not interested in building any type of rapport with us. Explaining the evening specials was clearly a waste of his time and energy. (If you've been there before, you know that part of the charm of this place is the wonderful explanations of the specials, including the description of the local ingredients which complement the dish.) To cap off his poor service, he gave us the wrong bill which overcharged us by $20. In addition, we noticed, with the exception of Richard, who has been a cornerstone there, the other wait staff joking around and not attending to their work either. The food, which is usually the highlight, was horrible and left us both feeling ill -- not a pleasant way to finish a romantic evening. I ordered my usual favorite, the pork tenderloin. The dish last night was tough, overcooked and bland; and the sauce unimpressive. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon and it tasted strange, like the cut had been a salvaged piece of pot roast passed off as a steak cut. Everyone knows what filet mignon is supposed to be, and this was not it. It was weird. We should have sent both dishes back but were so shocked we just wanted to leave. We will be not be returning to our favorite place and are mourning the loss. It was clear to us from last night there is a sad lack of respect for both the food and the patrons.

Great food in a refined and sophisticated yet casual atmosphere. Interesting eclectic combination of selections running from comfort food (meatloaf) to exotic specials. Full bar and a good wine list too. Don't fill up on the main course because they also make their own desserts (and you will want one). The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. This place is an overlooked gem situated near the brewery.

Frazer's is a must-do for all St. Louisians who know a thing or two about dining out. Located on the west end of Soulard Neighborhood; it's a quaint little hideaway. Don't let the exterior fool you, this is an upscale experience people. Dress accordingly. Well, I may be exaggerating a bit but you should definitely put on something nice (I wore fitted jeans and heels). The bar area is pretty "happening" and the decor really sets the tone for a great time. The dining area is intimate along with a private "velvet rope" type area for groups who don't necessarily want common folk intruding their space. My server was well versed in the menu and recommended the Cioppino after I advised him I was a light eater. It was the perfect main course for me' loaded with delicious seafood. I started with the goat cheese salad....also amazingly delish! The finale was the chocolate torte....there was no better way to end my Frazer's experience. I was pleased beyond words. I'll be back!

Got us in for 8 on a Friday night. Filled us right up, couldn't take another bite. Halibut special? Yes, I'll take that! Great wait service- I tip my hat. Cioppino- a stew filled with yummy fish. All was good, but that was the best dish. Plus, feta mash, red beans and rice, And the rosé before tasted oh so nice.

Came here last night with a friend. It wasn't my first time here, but it definitely wasn't my BEST time here. Let's start with the good.. *The patio is awesome! I like that the street isn't very busy - it makes for a less obnoxious outdoor dining experience. *The drinks are great. Although I did have to send the Riesling back (because it was not Riesling), the Prosecco and Pinot Grigio that I had were perfect for the breezy patio. *The server was very delicate. I know that may not make any sense lol but he was just very accommodating, and different - in a good way. He made sure everything was perfect and right for us. *The music was grooving lol Now the bad.. *I ordered the fish special, which was blackened Mahi Mahi with sesame sauce, some type of sesame slaw, and red beans & rice. I hate to be the one that eats all the food and then complains about it, but seriously I was starving....and the food was just not great. Although the fish was blackened, it was virtually flavorless. I usually NEVER pick up the salt at the table, but this fish was in dire need of salt. The slaw was a runnier than I would I have liked it to be - didn't really add much to the dish. The red beans & rice were okay - you could tell they had been plated first because the red beans started to "crack". In my mind, the dish sounded good. The execution on the other hand was a little baffling. Mahi Mahi is usually used in fish tacos - and fish tacos are usually accompanied with a fresh slaw. On the other hand, blackened seasoning is a Cajun staple, alongside red beans & rice. I think I was expecting something different as he described it because what came out was a plate of confusion. *The food took a really long time to come out. Not really sure why, but the appetizer salad took about 20-30 minutes to come out. I'd definitely come back here for drinks on the patio outside. It's a great place to hangout. I'm sure their happy hours are great too!

It is a great place to do brunch, get drinks or get dinner.. Frazers has a great selection of beer & wines and excellent entrees that make the wines even better.. The breakfast cocktails here are a pretty good excuse to get drinking before noon. My favorite thing to get here is sweet potato enchiladas.. they are so good I reverse engineered them and make them at home too.. Sweet potato enchiladas are served with red cabbage slaw, cilantro rice and black beans and it calls for a clean plate..

Frazer's is an amazing place to try a diverse menu, both food and drink. The staff is amazing, attentive, and very friendly. We had to do a last minute birthday dinner for Sarah because we got into a car accident and couldn't do our active party anymore. We called with a few days notice and they were able to accommodate 18 people during dinner rush. That is pretty great. That level of customer service is what pushed us over the edge in choosing this place for our Rehearsal Dinner. I can't wait to go back when I am not the DD and try some more of their amazing cocktails. I also highly recommend the fish specials. Doesn't really matter what it is, every time we have chosen that as our entree we walked away with a full stomach and a big smile across our face.

Nothing but the best things to say about this place! Have a friend who is active duty and was relocating, they set us upstairs in private dining to give our group of 15 some privacy and an opportunity to be together uninterrupted. Our server was wonderful, highly attentive and knowledgable about the always amazing menu. Drinks and meals were served quickly and were amazingly delicious. Love this place and will keep returning!

We stopped for an appetizer and a last drink of the day. I ordered a nice Moscato and my friend a dry red. We ordered the cheese tray, Very nicely presented, two fruits, 4 cheeses and VERY crisp pita chips. The cheeses were not explained to us, so we just jumped in and started sampling. When looking for a venue for a holiday dinner, a friend who knows her food picked this place. I had never heard of it but am always on the lookout for delicious new places so I was excited. She made a reservation no problem (a previous reviewer mentioned they couldn't make reservations?). When we arrived we were promptly seated and given menus. Our server was great - it felt like a show as he presented with lots of information and humor and paced us. He was very knowledgeable about specials and the menu. There was only one time my water was empty and I needed more but otherwise he was attentive. I ordered a soda pop fizz cocktail that tasted like an orange cream soda (but warning: it's pink!). Had a kinda weird after taste though. Food wise, we ordered the cheese plate, bacon wrapped dates, cups of chili, and some salads to start. I didn't have any but everyone said it was delicious. They serve warm bread before the meal which is always appreciated. They had a ton of menu specials and many sounded delish! I ordered the Pork Shnitzel while my husband had the burger. Our other party members got many specials too including blackened mahi mahi, breaded mahi mahi, sweet potato tacos, bacon wrapped meatloaf, and chicken pasta dish. Everyone loved their meal! Oh and I need to mention the atmosphere. It was very cozy and chill. We were off in an alcove that was perfect for our party. It was a nice loungey feel which I appreciate. Overall a great dining experience and I would return. My one issue is that I think it's a bit overpriced, particularly my cocktail and main course. For us, it will be a great place to go for a special dinner.

I've actually been here a few times as this place is a favorite of a good friend of mine. I am actually not "sold" on the food the menu and often struggle to find something that peaks my interest, but then again, I'm not much of an adventurous eater. I do love the atmosphere as this place is very cozy and warm. Drinks are outstanding and the bartenders do a great job.

I never EVER would have found this place if it weren't for turning Yelp off and opening my fucking eyes. I find a lot of good stuff through Yelp, but it's mostly new or popular places. This place is a hidden gem. Nothing about it sticks out. Its name is painfully boring, and I try to avoid any place that calls itself a "lounge". Ick. Felt adventurous and wanted to finally try Venice Cafe, which, of course, is closed the one time I want to go there. My friend and I stood on the sidewalk like a couple of morons, not knowing what to do. I fumbled around with my phone, and we both just kind of started walking blindly forward, dying for beer. Finally, I just said fuck the phone, let's walk until we find a place, which luckily for us, was about 10 feet. This place looked so amazing. I actually thought it might be a mirage. It is ADORABLE. Tile mosaic floor, loungy furniture inside, and a lot of cute patio space outside. I was like, whoa, what IS this place??? "Frazer's"? I have never heard of this place. I don't know how that's possible, because this place is amazing, from the decor to the service and down to the food. It is a little $$, but well worth it. Didn't eat a whole meal, but tried their bread pudding, which was legit. I cannot wait to come back here. This place is the ultimate date spot. This place needs to change its name for real, because I really think that's what is holding it back. The service was a little slow, but then again, it was a slow and relaxed afternoon, and it actually was nice not to be rushed for a change. This place is a solid 4 and a half stars. It shies just below perfection, and probably gets lost in the sea of "good" places. It's not new, it's not fancy, it's not terribly unusual. Great Ambiance in the bar! Go for a couple drinks before dinner. Funny how two of the funkiest places in town (Frazer's and Venice Cafe) are right next to each other. I had the Mahi. It came with feta mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was great. We ordered the cheese plate and BBQ shrimp for apps which were both great as well. The server, Francois I believe, was very knowledgable about both the food and suggested wine parings. It felt like a dining "experience" as opposed to just going out to dinner. Definitely a great date night spot to impress your lady! Not too bad on the wallet either considering the quality of food and service :)

Frazers is one of my favorite spots. Creative cocktails and friendly service. Atmosphere is top notch. Love the way the restaurant is set up, and the decor is beautiful. We happened to be in on a day with perfect weather, so we took a table right inside the open walk-out windows. The bartender waited on us. Food was great. We ordered a couple wraps and a sandwich. Everything came out exactly how we expected. The only downside was the time it took to get food and then our checks. Quite a wait here, but this is not consistent with other experiences I've had at Frazers. I'll be back very soon!

We dined here on a Saturday night with another couple. They are big fans of the place and recommended it. I appreciated that they squeezed us in a 7:30 with only 30 minute notice. Lots of delicious sounding specials. The cheese plate appetizer was amazing as was the complimentary bread basket. It tasted like hops (?) or yeast (?) Not sure if that is correct, but the place is next door to the brewery so it tasted very authentic! The chicken special was okay. They had a lot of fun cocktails which my husband enjoyed. My only suggestion is to make one dedicated men's restroom and one women's restroom rather than both being unisex. I hate using men's restrooms. Always nasty. It was like an obstacle course to not get urine on me or my clothes.

This place has incredible cocktails. My boyfriend ordered a mojito; he said it was the best he's had in STL. THEY USED LIQUID NITROGEN TO MAKE IT. So amazing. The food was fantastic. We had the meatloaf (pretty damn good), the fried green tomatoes (amazing), and the Chorizo stuffed dates (pretty good). You could taste the ingredients were fresh; we'll be going back.

3 stars, being in business 20+ years has its advantages. The food is still inconsistent, even the same dish twice served looks different, irregular portions (sorry to be picky, but it is annoying when 2 people order the same dish and it doesn't look the same and the portions are different). Even when the server dropped the plates(service is still rough at times) they noticed the differences, instead of acknowledging they just ran away. The food quality is decent - everything was over salted, it was hard to taste the food. The staff is a little rough at times and so higher prices tend to really confuse the atmosphere. It took time to get back here because of the obstacles of inconsistent food and odd staff - probably wait another 5 years to return. The value and experience is not what they are wanting to project, I think.

The other night I came here as part of my 21st birthday celebration with friends and this little foodie was impressed! Everything I had was absolutely delicious. We had the Halibut (special), Salmon with Red Beans and Rice, the Asparagus pasta, Beef Carpaccio and a few of their signature cocktails. Everything was perfect, even the server :). This is a favorite spot for a date night. They have something for everyone and very reasonably priced for the quality. I recommend the fish special or the sweet potato enchiladas. I have paid twice as much for fish at other restaurants in St. Louis and I always think Frazer's tastes better and you get more!! You won't even miss the meat in the enchiladas. They have really stepped up their cocktail menu in recent months. Don't leave without getting the key lime pie. If I'm too full I take it to go!

Arrived at 8pm party of 12, no reservation, because they don't accept em- Dinner served @ 10:40pm. Ughhhh yea 10:40pm. Let's start with bar service: this place is run by some customer service-less amateurs! Ordered 2 cocktails, that were lovely but the bartender tried to pocket a $10 tip without offering me change, which is what's proper. Empty glasses and waterless refills filled the bar, just seemed like the bartenders had too many specialty drinks to make that they forgot about everyone else. Dinner service: redemption! Food was iight, I could do better in my kitchen, which was the overall response from the table. We ordered a variety of entrees from pasta to steak to vegan curry tofu-everything lacked luster and the serving sizes were not very desirable for the price. I will stick to lunch in the future, dinner is simply not worth it

We walked in here for dinner on a suggestion from the bartender at the Venice Cafe. Immediately we noticed the super cool seating in the lounge area and the atmosphere that it created. I would love to come back some night just to spend some time in the bar area. On Monday nights, they were offering a free bottle of wine with dinner if you spent $40, so of course we had to try that. We started with stuffed dates and thought they were good, and liked the slightly spicy sauce they were topped with. The dining area had a creative feel to it and we certainly enjoyed the environment. They had lots of specials to choose from as well as the regular menu. As usual, the specials did not have their prices listed; however, it was nice to find out that the prices were comparable to the menu prices and not $10+ additional dollars. I had the pork tenderloin special and thought the flavor was good. The spinach that was served with it, was just plain wilted spinach, so that wasn't a favorite of mine. Hubby had the meat loaf plate and thought it had a very homemade, comfort food feel which he loved. Sarah had the sweet potato enchiladas special and was really happy with her choice. We would certainly return for another visit.

Just revisited this place after a LONG hiatus. SO GLAD I DID!! Love the atmosphere, food and service! Date got some oysters, which he still talks about as being delicious, huge and decently priced. Don't let the menu fool you, they have amazing daily specials! And not just one...but like, 5. We both ordered specials even though had a menu item in mind based off menu-peeping earlier in the day. We got pork schnitzel which was better than half the German restaurants from here to Chicago and also shared a seafood pasta (a possible artery clogger, but delish!) Met my high school group of girlfriends for a little catch-up session. What a great-looking place. There's a bar area, dining area, and we sat in what I would call a lounge area just inside the door where there are couches with lots of pillows and lush chairs. That worked great for the six of us. We had an attentive server. who was always there when we needed her. We shared: Cheese Plate ($9.95) -- Old Amsterdam, Grana Padano, Prairie Breeze and Cahill Porter that came with apple wedges, crackers and bread. Chorizo-Stuffed Dates ($7.95) -- Wrapped in bacon and simmered in spicy tomato sauce Scottish Salmon ($8.95) -- Thinly sliced North Atlantic Salmon drizzled with EVOO, garnished with cucumber, red onion, capers, lemon wedge and crostini Hummus ($7.50) -- With feta and Kalamata olives, served with pumpkin seed flatbread Carpaccio ($8.95) -- Beef tenderloin dusted with Cajun spices, blackened and shaved paper-thin, chilled, drizzled with EVOO, topped with freshly grated parmesan reggiano, and served with capers, lemon wedges and crostini Mushroom Strudel ($8.95) -- Shitake, portabella, button mushrooms, feta and herbs baked in phyllo with a Madeira reduction We were there on a Thursday evening, when Happy Hour includes a seafood bar offering oysters on the half-shell and jumbo shrimp for $1 each. One of our party got six oysters and enjoyed them thoroughly. Highlights were: Cheese Plate -- I just ate the cheese and an apple wedge. The cheeses were fabulous, full-bodied taste treats. Salmon -- I used the cucumber as the vehicle to get it to my mouth, added onion, capers and a squeeze of lemon. Hummus -- Can't go wrong using feta and Kalamata olives. Yummy. Carpaccio -- Just divine beef with such a tasteful splash of the parmesan reggiano with tangy, briny capers and a luscious squeeze of fresh lemon. I think I ate most of the capers. I was not a fan of the chorizo-stuffed dates. The dates were overtaken by the spicy tomato sauce. I didn't even taste the dates. It wasn't too spicy. It was just too much, 'cause the chorizo was heavy and the bacon was heavy, and the sauce was overwhelming. I love mushrooms, but this strudel creation just didn't work for me. I don't know what it was, but I tasted more "other stuff" than mushrooms. We had a grand evening with spectacular service and food -- and, of course, the company was the best.

Not high brow, not low brow. Is there a middle brow? Sooo, when we walked in to Frazer's I was a little skeptical. It looked a little fancy pants pretentious. It is a little fancy pants but minus the pretentious. We were greeted quickly and seated outside, as we requested. Our waiter's name was, and probably still is-ha ha, Brian. He was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, a little quirky, excited about the food, and my bf said he was mindful. Seriously, he really made the experience awesome. I highly recommend requesting him as your server. The bf ordered a beer and I tried a specialty drink. Mine was a bit sweet but good. I switched to Stoli and soda after that. We started off with the fried green tomatoes topped with crab meat. The tomatoes were tasty, thick and firm, the crab meat could have used a little seasoning but it was good, the breading definitely could have used some seasonings. I can think of 2 other places, in Soulard, off the top of my head that do it better. Don't let that deter you though, they were still good and maybe you would dig them. The bf had chicken picatta and I had sweet potato enchiladas with cilantro rice and black beans. The chicken picatta was good but I felt the sauce could have been a bit more acidic. The enchiladas were stellar. I was worried they'd be too sweet but they weren't and they smelled heavenly. The arugula with the sweet potato was a great bitter complement and the sauce was warm with mild heat. The cilantro rice was aromatic and perfectly cooked. The black beans were, well, black beans. We were too full for dessert but were convinced we must visit again for cocktails and in house made dessert. A note: Their menu may seem small but they always have specials.

Frazer's has been on our favorites list since the first time we visited St. Louis a decade ago--even as a young teen I knew this place was amazing. My Aunt lives close by so we always stop in at least once during our visits. They have a great happy hour in the bar area with fun, interested cocktails and delicious apps (I don't remember happy hour details since we missed it this time, but go!) A must-try for starters are the chorizo stuffed dates and their blue cheese wedge salad. The regular menu has great items and there are always a few chef's specials to try. For dinner this time I had their halibut special w/ feta mashed potatoes and perfect asparagus. Fellow diners raved about the steak burger, sweet potato enchiladas, and the pork schnitzel. We all shared bites and everything was delicious! The atmosphere is great and their is plenty of seating outdoors and in with very attentive, knowledgeable servers. Don't pass this place up ;)

Frazer's is the epitome of excellence and consistency. The food is as good as, or better than, when the restaurant opened in the 1990s. If you like seafood, the mussels are a great appetizer. The portion is large, and the broth is delicious. The seafood pasta is usually a special, and is wonderful. Note that it is rather spicy. It includes mussels, clams, and good-sized shrimp. If you have children, note that Frazer's has an excellent burger on the menu. It comes with mashed potatoes and gravy, but the kitchen will substitute french fries if you (or your child) prefers. As for desserts, the bread pudding is a classic. However, I would also recommend the creme brulee. The caramelized sugar was finished to perfection. Service is professional and friendly. I would highly recommend Frazer's!

My husband and I went to Frazer's for dinner on Saturday to celebrate my birthday. I'm one of "those" people who usually change up and switch out parts of the ordered meal, because I figure what the heck, it's my dinner, right? The atmosphere is great , the bar and bartenders were awesome, as were the cocktails we ordered while waiting for our table (our choice - we got there early). Dinner was fantastic! Appetizers (stuffed dates wrapped in bacon for him, crab cake for me), were amazing. SO nice to get a crab cake with NO breading in it. I continued the seafood theme with a lobster boil, asking if the potatoes and corn could be left out and some other green veggie thrown in it's place. There was no problem with this, and asparagus in a lobster boil is darned near perfect. My spouse got the Pork Schnitzel, and he said it was the best he has ever had. Our waitress was unsure about the wine list (she was new and did a bang-up job otherwise) and had no problem getting a more experienced server to help us out with our choice. Post-dinner coffee and desserts were also amazing. This is definitely in our top three places in STL to go out for a special dinner!

I'm pretty sure I just had the best steak of my entire life here last night. It was an incredibly thick 9 oz. filet cooked to medium rare perfection. What a thing of beauty! Oh, and the oysters were huge and delicious! Frazer's is an interesting place. It's like a casual fine dining atmosphere with a more casual lounge/bar off to the side. They have a fairly extensive menu as is, but they have daily specials that seem to double the menu. And somehow, the servers are able to recite these specials without notes. They also seem to have cheaper prices than most of the fine dining establishments in town. The dining area also has a beautiful view of the brewery and you can often smell the brewing in progress as you walk up to the door. Oh, and the chairs! These might be the most comfortable restaurant chairs in the city. If you don't go for the steak, go for the chairs! I wonder if anyone will go for the chairs.

At first glance, it's Venice Cafe's cousin. Wonderful interior complete with mosaic, rich fabrics and an eclectic feel. The food here is better than most. Handmade breads, sauces and pastas, galore. Great for a date night or a quick lunch. Stop in to the brewery for a free tour, it's a half a block away. The space is limited you may want to make a reservation. The bar/lounge is comfy and cozy. The wine/spirit list and craft beer selection is very nice. Brown bag it to-go if you can't get a seat. You won't be disappointed.

Frazier's has come a long way since it dropped the "brown bag". That night I launched right in with Chorizo Stuffed Dates and Scottish Salmon. The starters were a great beginning. I had a nibble of the carpaccio but it was unfortunately inhaled by my dinner partners in crime before I could a good handle on it. We went on to share the pork tenderloin and the feta and mashed potatoes and a beef kabob special. We all did NOT share dessert. My dream of the perfect bread pudding was close on this one. Very good. There was also a red velvet cake on special that was to DIE FOR. I almost wished I had that instead. Almost. Two bottles of red wine selected by our server was the icing on the cake of a fabulous dinner. Service was awesome. Table as not as great since it was right next to a walk way to the restroom and upstairs dining but I can change that next time I go in. All in all, I was happy with the quality of the food, the service and overall menu selections. Good place to dine on a weekend night or anytime.

It's as if they could just forgo their regular menu because their specials seems so much more interesting. We ordered most of our dishes from the chalkboard: duck salad & lobster boil. I'm wishing I tried the sweet potato enchilada instead. The chorizo stuffed dates from their actual appetizer menu were good, although I didn't get enough date taste. And the key lime pie was delicious. I wish we had a larger party with us so we could have ordered more food and I could taste everything I wanted to, including their homemade ice creams... Our server was really friendly and informative, except we kind of lost him towards the end of the meal. That always seems to be the case though doesn't it?

Took over an hour to get our entrees and when we got them everything was lukewarm or cold. Food is mediocre. Restaurant is loud. Service is subpar. There are far better restaurants in St. Louis, esp for the price.

My favorite restaurant in St. Louis. Not only do they have fantastic food, the atmosphere is eclectic, the waitstaff is always friendly, and they have a modest wine list with very nice options. It's perfect for celebration or romantic dinners. If you're a vegetarian, definitely try the sweet potato and goat cheese enchiladas- you won't regret it. The Salmon Frazer is amazing as well. Then anything on the dessert list is going to be heavenly, if you have room for it! Annnnd now going to go make a reservation.

My husband and I dined here Friday night and it was phenomenal as always. For starters, their drink list makes it difficult to only drink a few. Our appetizers (BBQ shrimp and brie cheese plate) were terrific, but, the star of the show was the lobster boil. Service was great and atmosphere was charming. The only negative thing that I could possibly come up with was that I was seated near an AC vent...but on a super hot August day, most would find this to be a perk. Can't wait to go back!

We came here because the biergarten at anheiser Busch looked gross, and so glad we did. Homemade everything, from the bread to soups, great sandwiches and my dad enjoyed his burger. Nice atmosphere and a really sweet waitress who was on top of it. Sat on the patio, and really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely worth checking out.

Frazer's is a kind of a hidden gem, despite being in operation for twenty years. The atmosphere and location are great and only topped by the food, service, and drinks. I would recommend the seafood, though I've never been disappointed with anything I've had. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the eggs benedict, one of my top 10 dishes in St. Louis. Go here and leave happy.

We came in for a late lunch last week while bumming around the city. It was hot. Granted, it was hot outside and we were sitting in the bar- it was hot- and no one else was sitting in the bar. We ordered 3 local beers on draft, double IPAs and they were less than $2 a piece for part of happy hour! YUMBO. Also, ordered the hummus as a starter, which wasn't on the lunch menu but is a favorite of my daughter's so they kindly accommodated us. It was delicious but the portion was itty bitty! :( All 3 of us order different lunch specials. My SO had the meatloaf special; it was underwhelming but nothing was bad about it. The green beans seemed canned (which I like- don't judge me!!). The mashed potatoes were nice- you could tell they were homemade. The weird thing was that the meatloaf was wrapped in a piece of bacon but it wasn't crispy, it was soggy. My amiga had the lasagna with meat and bechamel sauce. This was definitely the star of our experience! The portion was huge, rich and super flavorful. I was jealous for sure. I tried the muffeleta. As an Italian, it's pretty difficult to impress me as far as muffelletas go; my grandpa makes the best ones ever. Theirs was pretty good though; I like the bread it was on. We definitely got our money's worth and will be back. I hope that their menu includes more appetizer friendly options during lunch because we love to snack.

I went New Years so it may not be the appropriate review for all times. Our group of 14 was impressively seated upon arrival. But then it took 30 minutes from being seated for the first 4 drinks to come, the rest came spread out over 10 minutes which frustrated those without at the table. Drinks were timely from there. Some drinks were good, mojitos didn't have simple syrup or sugar in it, just soda water. Food was at least 4 stars with the exception that 3 of 4 beef/lamb dishes were not cooked to temperature. I was the only one to send my dish back and it was quickly replaced cooked as ordered. The major draw back for the evening was the confusion between with the servers.j John Taffer would not have been pleased. They didn't have a system for knowing who ordered what. Each drink, app, entree, bill required a lot of patience as they attempted to figure it out when it was brought to the table. I might try again on a day that is unlikely to be as busy to see if the service will not bring down what will likely be a tasty meal.

I like the originality of the menu, not at all what I expected and everything was excellent. Nice casual decor but you feel comfortable dressed for fine dining. We dined at 6:30 pm on a Monday and the place was pretty crowded, which of course is a good sign you've picked the right place. Food was great, service very good and we left fat and happy to boot. I plan to return to try the meatloaf because I am sure it's going to be a treat and not at all your average home-cooked meal. They have a small bar, so probably a great place for drinks and appetizers later in the evening too.

Everyone who works at Frazer's is really, really nice. I have "regular" waitress that waits on me in the late afternoons, but she had a different section when I stopped in last night for a quick cocktail. But that wasn't a huge deal because our cocktail waitress was just as lovely. After a very looong day, a good friend and I stopped by the lounge to relax over a cocktail. Did you know that they serve a pretty bad ass $5 glass of dry red wine? We found that out firsthand... And our server was kind enough to leave us alone and let us chit chat (rather than bother us or try to up-sell our drinks). And when I left my card there overnight, they kept it safe in the cash register and let me come back to claim it the next day! Love Frazer's! It's like my "Cheers" :)

I find myself in St. Louis about once or twice a month for work and my colleagues and I LOVE this place. It is the best place to eat in St. Louis we have found, worth the drive from downtown. The food is comprised of quality ingredients and great combinations. Get one of the specials! The menu is not very exciting, but the special list is always long and enticing. Another thing we like this place is they know how to prepare cocktails correctly and have a good wine list, something that is sorely lacking in restaurants of its caliber downtown. In the five times we have been there I have had the skate, seafood broil, duck confit and vegetable enchiladas. ALL have been excellent. I also LOVE their appetizers, favorites being stuffed figs, smoked salmon, beef carpaccio, and the goat cheese salad. Casual dining at its best!

For a happy hour I visited the restaurant to watch the Cardinal game. The place is very upscale with a large arch encased mirror, chandelier, some mosaic tile on the wall and wood bar. They also have a nice small patio and sidewalk cafe area. I had some $2 domestic beer (like Bud Select) and a half priced pizza for $5. The pizza was the only food on special and each day it is different kind. Today the pizza was chicken, portabella mushroom, spinach and mozzarella on thin crust. The mushroom and chicken were sliced in long strips and placed in a outward burst pattern so they were able to slice between the toppings. The look and taste was highly impressive with each bite having chicken or mushroom on this 9" pizza ($5!). I saw they had a $5 lunch special that I will be back to try and probably raise my rating. Now this is a restaurant so they actually put the TV in the corner and facing down the bar, but it was a LCD so the viewing angle was not bad. The crowd around the bar was into the game without being annoying. Since people started describing the Loo... The had a very nice individual restroom. ;-)

Frazer's: A cool little place to just west of Soulard in Benton Park. Known for some of the best happy hour specials around, I always find something good to eat and drink in the lounge. After today's visit I know that I'll be a visiting again sometime very soon. I had the Duck Salad and a cup of Vegi, Cheddar, Chowder. The duck was smoked and was done just right. I typically like my duck seared or grilled to Medium Rare but the smoked was great as well. The salad could have used a better presentation but the flavors were great and the dressing was just right. The soup was among the best chowders I've ever had. Light in body but heavy in the vegis. There might have been some bacon or other pork in the sauce which would have eliminated this as a vegi dish but I wasn't complaining. I also didn't ask it there was any. I had a glass of wine with lunch as well. They have happy hour wines during lunch for $5. It's hard to say no to that. We all sat at the bar with Savannah and although quiet she was very nice and attentive. I really appreciate the attention to the decor and some of the subtle details in the restaurant. I look forward to revisiting Frazer's in the future.

Through the power of Yelp I discovered this restaurant while on a short road trip through St.Louis. Unlike some of the other places I visited while in town, my fellow Yelpers didn't let me down. Offering an extensive menu with options suitable for vegans and vegetarians, this restaurant seems like a nice upscale/funky place to have dinner. Servers are very helpful/knowledgeable and can make substitutions to most menu items if you have special dietary needs. I was able to eat the fried green tomato app minus crab thanks to my helpful waitress. My sweet potato enchilada vegetarian entree was really good, too. My boyfriend enjoyed a seafood special which consisted of an entire ear of corn, king crab legs, and misc. veggies. I should have taken a picture of it. His meal was huge. I definitely think this restaurant is a neat place to go to for a "nice" dinner.

I have been here a few times over the years and I have found it to be consistently good and interesting food. I like the Morrocan tilapia as a general rule, marinated in charmoula (anything cilantro makes me happy) it is served with couscous with almonds and raisins and some harissa (hot pepper and garlic paste). So flavorful. Other than this I suggest diving into a special as they are numerous and generally good. The duck breast salad at lunch is super tasty with the pomegranate vinaigrette. It leaves plenty of room for either the creme brulee, bread pudding with whiskey sauce or delish chocolate torte. Service has always been good and I like the atmosphere. Things can be pricey but you can also find deals if you look, especially in the lounge. All things considered I really like it here.

Frazer's strikes such an amazing and unique balance of spacious but cozy, classy yet eclectic, and gourmet yet still comfort food. It just celebrated 20 years in Benton Park, which is thrilling for those of that live right around it! I remember when it was a tiny one storefront place that had great dinner yet also specialized in "brown bag" lunches for nearby business like AB. It now takes up about 5 storefronts, has an upstairs private party room, and two outdoor areas. Several nights a week there are great happy hours, often with free apps (good ones, too, like hummus, meatballs, and spring rolls!). A lot of their beer specials are still an homage to AB, not my thing, but all good. Still plenty more to choose from. There are only a few food staples actually listed on the menu, the rest are daily specials on a chalkboard that include soups, salads, apps, main courses, and desserts depending on what is in season. They have a summer salad that is a favorite- homegrown tomato, ripe avocado, red onion, and more with fresh cumin seeds and cumin vinaigrette. Simple ingredients, but an amazing result. Shrimp and grits or a kabob are great starters with everything cooked to just the right temp with perfect seasoning. Their pastas and seafood are always delicious- Salmon Frazer is a long time house specialty and one of my favorites that I crave at least once a month. Meat loaf, duck, and fried chicken are top notch for those looking for the above mentioned quality comfort food. Homemade ice cream during the summer is a special treat- banana, coffee, chocolate habanero, etc. Service is always excellent. Frazer and his wife frequently make the rounds and are both so friendly and down to earth. A conversation with Frazer is a real treat- he is so eloquent and laid back that you feel like you are being bathed in good energy. Most of the servers have been there for years, always a good sign of a quality establishment. I've met their husbands, wives, kids, celebrated their 20th restaurant anniversary with them, watched the presidential election results, the Cards win the World Series, etc. it's that kind of place while still being a high end restaurant as well. Great combination!

If I could rate zero stars I would! Reserved and paid deposit for the upstairs room 3 months ago. Had custom invites made and rsvps were received. The event coordinator and Frazer must have decided something better came along because I was told two weeks before the event the upstairs room was "no longer available". No real apology, no empathy for the fact that our event was ruined. A pretty crappy way to do business, super unprofessional, and if they are so careless with something so simple, I can only speculate how careless they are with aspects like food prep and sanitation. Do yourself a favor and dine elsewhere.

5 stars for the service. 2 stars for the food (or the bread pudding, at least!) I came here on a sunny spring afternoon. The weather was perfect, and I wanted nothing more than to sit on the patio and nom on a huge hunk of bread pudding. Luckily for me, Frazer's had both. This nifty little spot is located on Pestalozzi street. It's a stone's throw away from the brewery. Anyway, back to my visit. I was immediately seated outside on their patio. Nice. I went with the bread pudding, which was a milk and white chocolate creation, topped with a healthy dose of whipped cream. I had high hopes for this BP, but unfortunately, I was let down. The flavor was pretty decent; I loved the milk chocolate chunks (but couldn't taste any white chocolate). However, the texture was WAY off. The top was crispy; almost hard. And the middle was soggy and custard-y. A lot of people like soft, custard-like bread pudding. I'm not one of them. The service was FANTASTIC. My waitress was super friendly, helpful, and ridiculously bubbly. I wasn't having the best day, but I couldn't help but smile at her. She was good. I think I'd come back to Frazer's to try a few items on their menu. Prices seemed really reasonable. I'll be back for sure.

I want to say first that I steered clear of this place for a couple of years because I had a bad experience here back then. My friend asked me to go with him so I figured enough time had past to give them another shot. I am very glad I did. We sat at the bar and had wine and small plates. The staff was very helpful (not to mention hot) and all of the people sitting at the bar were very chatty and nice. They had a great wine selection and some good snack foods (bacon wrapped dates!). I mentioned my previous bad experience to the bartender and she was apologetic and more than made up for it with her great service. Before we left the owner even stopped by to make sure everything went well for us. I am very glad I came back because this is a great restaurant.

I was originally going to have dinner at Venice Cafe just down the street the other night, but after getting the good word that they don't serve food right now, my good friend and I landed here based on proximity and some consistently good reviews. Congrats, you were all right about this place! ;) Even though it was one of those ridiculous nights where it's still almost 90 degrees at 9 pm, we sat outside on the patio. Unless it's raining bricks or there's a raging turf war going on between rival gangs, I will almost always choose the patio or the sidewalk over the indoor seating. Which leads me to Rhett. It was his first night serving at Frazer's, and I always cringe a little inside when I get that little nugget of info early on during a dinner service. And the poor guy had to stand there and recite what has got to be the longest list of specials I have ever heard in my life...there were seriously about 20 of them...craziness! He powered through it though, and I applaud his perseverance. :P On to the food...I was torn between the brie and fruit plate and the chorizo stuffed dates that I heard so much about on here, but wound up choosing the former. I also had the goat cheese salad and then duck confit for my entree . All of it was just really terrific...can't think of even one complaint about the food, service, atmosphere...but jesus people, shorten that damn list of specials! I mean, I had a full beer when the list started and was really close to ordering another one by the time it was over...but that might be more of a personal problem than one the restaurant needs to deal with. Hmmm....

I previously loved this restaurant but returned this week and was very disappointed at the food quality. We had the stuffed dates which were amazing as always however my meatloaf was served with canned/frozen green beans and corn. The canned vegetables weren't even seasoned. I think the gravy on my mashed potatoes was canned too. I was really shocked because this place has always impressed me. A guest from out of town had a burger and the bun was too hard to eat. My husband had pasta and loved it. Maybe the chiefs had an off night. A little leery to return.

Frazers is by far my favorite place in St. Louis! They have a wonderful lounge area that is intimately decorated with hanging lights and warm colors that give you such an at ease feeling! Its nestled on a side street in benton park and located very close to the brewery. Their lounge windows/doors open on nice days out and the inside turns into outside. They have awesome drink/food specials every day of the week and on special occasions (opening day, mardi gras, 4th of july, etc) Their food has such great thought that goes into it! Almost everything here is made in house which is amazing, try the chorizo stuffed dates! They have a standard menu and also a menu that changes everyday! $5 lunch specials during the day! Wonderful atmosphere, a must try, and i guarantee you'll want to come back!

I've been here twice in the past two weeks and both times the food and service has been just amazing! Dinner here last week was the night before Thanksgiving. Met a few friends there, we had dinner upstairs. For appetizers we had some oysters, mussels and shrimp, a cheese plate and something else I can't remember. I ordered the filet for dinner and it was delicious! Also ordered an after dinner drink and salted caramel ice cream which was equally amazing. Lunch yesterday was just as fabulous! My neighbor and I were playing hooky so we ordered a bottle of wine and treated ourselves to a yummy lunch. I had the steakburger with feta cheese and fries and it was a good choice. We finished off lunch with an order of the flan that had a hint of lavender flavor to it. YUM. I love the atmosphere here and upon leaving saw their happy hour specials to which I will be returning for again very soon! It also helps that one of my friends is a manager here :)

Horrible Service! We were looking for outdoor seating and this was suggested. We arrived later in the evening and waited to be seated outside. No communication between the wait staff and the host. The host was rude and gave us dirty looks. It seemed he had planned to sit at the table that had been promised to our group. When seated, we waited and waited as server after server told us that our server would be right with us. Food was mediocre. Horrible smell from would waft towards our table...presuming from the sewer. Rude Service from the host warrants this one star rating. Very unwelcoming.

Big Arnold took me here for my 30th Bday slash New Year's dinner. We were going out to a denim ball later, and although he chickened out and prevented us from being the evening's quadruple denim power couple, we at least turned it out at Frazers as a three fourths denim dynasty. Our res's were early so that we could make all of our stops the rest of the night, and we started things off at the bar with some red wine. As we were led up stairs to sit, I found it slightly odd that they would sit us, who were the only other table to sit, right next to a large table of about eight people. Like, right next door to their elbows. But, no matter, after a great recommendation from the waiter, we settled on a fab bottle of red and ordered the lamb chops and king crab boil from the limited nye menu. Oh, and we got the mussels for the app. The mussels were great except some of them were very seafood tasting while some of them were super yum. Of course we shared each other's dinners..the chops were substantial in size and cooked perfectly medium rare. The king crab was so sweet and juicy and the broth everything was complimented nicely. And the feta mashed potatoes the chops were bedded on were amazing! I'm going to try making them myself. For dessert I got the bread pudding with bourbon sauce. It was warm and hearty but a little dry for my taste. You know I like my pudding to be all gooey and sticky. Frazer's had balloons all over the dining room ceiling which was cute. Halfway through dinner a pink one came down to join us. After stealing that helium, we grabbed another one for the way out!

My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new for date night, so we decided on Frazer's. All in all, it was an okay experience. Nothing spectacular. I ordered a chicken dish that was basically just grilled chicken over rice, which I feel as though I could have made at home. The taste was just kind of bland. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and shrimp pasta which was decent but pretty bland as well. Frazer's is decent, but it's nothing to really write home about.

My first time at frazers and I had a wonderful time! Went with a couple of friends started with a drink at the bar the gentleman bartender with the beard was very friendly and quick considering how busy the bar was( every seat was taken). From there I moved to the patio for dinner I love eating outdoors and I loved the lively atmosphere. Blake was our server he was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu. He recited all of the off the menu specials without stammering which impressed me being there was a few. We started with the BBQ shrimp wich were fantastic then had the red snapper special for dinner with the feta mash. Everything was so delicious. A+ on everything including Blake's service I have to admit his personality added a little something extra to the dining experience, I haven't had service like that in a while. Classy. Great Service. GREAT food. Great Atmosphere. Moderate prices. Original dishes. Frazer's has all of these and more, which makes it one of the best restaurants in St. Louis. I don't even know where to begin, because I love everything here. The specials. Frazer's has just as many specials every single night as the do regular menu items, and they are always coming up with new favorites on the menu. If you are looking for a best kept secret, this place is one of the most underrated seafood restaurants in town. I've had the Salmon Frazer, and it is excellent - fresh, great flavor. Another best kept secret at Frazer's is the STEAKBURGER!!!! Quite possibly the best burger I have ever eaten. Ever. Steak and Shake needs to take a lesson, becuase, because this is a real steakburger. They make it fresh there at Frazer's, and it is juicy, succulent, and full of flavor. I've had the steak, the duck, the meatloaf, the chicken - and many more and I feel like I haven't even tried half of the great dishes Frazer's has. What more can hungry guy ask for!?! The wine list is fairly extensive and the drinks are fairly priced, and I've heard the bartender makes a pretty original drink, but I haven't tried it. I am always so impressed by the servers here. There is always at least 10-12 specials from salads, soups, and entrees, and the servers can always describe each one in very fine and intricate detail. Best service staff in St. Louis. They almost always offer a vegetarian and vegan option, so they cater to all crowds. With the brewery in the backdrop, this place breathes St. Louis like no other place in town. I just can't say enough good things about this place. If I had a restaurant, I would want it to be Frazer's. If I ever get to meet this person who they call Frazer, my only words would be "Well Done Sir."

So my date would not stop raving about this place. I kid you not I was more excited than a kid in a candy store to go. Upon walking in it was really a cute little place. The lighting was casual the wood floors were rustic and the random artwork on the walls made it have a personality. Dinner was not so great. I ordered a pasta special with sun-dried tomatoes and chicken. The sauce was very thin and oily, it didn't really coat the pasta the way I had hoped. My eating partner was chomping on a steak that left a bit to be desired. Although the food was not knock my socks off and I wasn't leaving with a good feeling, I did think I will have to return to give them another try. Maybe it was an off night or maybe I went for the wrong items.

I'm on a mission to hit each of the restaurants in and around my neighborhood. Because I live in Benton Park, this should be enjoyable. Thus far it has. I hit Frazer's up last night. One, it was open on a Monday. Two, from yelper's, it should be good. I'm not at all disappointed. We decided to to an appitizer night - you know, skip the 9oz filet, and do the american tapas... Four apps, four wins. Vino - duh - we're out of the gates (good bottle of zin, not expensive). Started off with the seafood chowder (in a cup, told it was filling ... is was) - excellent. Check 1 Continued with Carpaccio - nice - not the best, but way up there. Check 2 Made the turn with the mixed grill kabob, this one was really a winner. Subtle mix of seafood and meat - really worked well. Check 3 The final stretch was Oysters on the half shell (six, not twelve). Amazingly fresh - I mean really - here we are in St. Louis and these critters were digging only hours ago. This was a wonderful meal, in a great environment. So far, I'm really loving the Benton Park restaurant scene.

Frazer's is one of my favorite places to eat in one of my favorite neighborhoods in St. Louis. While Frazer's could be considered more "upscale" dining, it is definitely not pretentious. It is a place you can come all dressed up, or come casual. I love the cozy feel of the lounge and dining area. Small tables and a chalk board listing the evening's specials along with a couch area to have drinks by the bar. They have a great wine list, and the menu changes nightly to accomodate seasonal or local changes. Each server explains the specials in detail...I especially love Patrick...It's almost like a theatrical performace as he decribes each dish! His passion for the food oozes out like a mouth-watering poetic melody. The food is fresh and delicious, and they have a good variety if you're dining with guests. From steak eaters to vegetarians, they should have a dish to fit everyone's tastes. Some of my favorite apps include the mushroom strudel and scottish salmon. My husband loves the chorizo stuffed dates. As for entrees, they always have great fish selections and even have a King Crab boil that's huge! Frazer's does lots of extras for events. We went this year for New Year's with a group and they had a FREE oyster bar and appetizer buffet! I've been wanting to go for happy hour specials for a while now, but can't seem to make it over in time. Go alone, go with friends, but request Patrick and you're sure to have a great time!

You're heading down Lemp. You come to the crossroads at Pestalozzi. Which way do you go? Venice Cafe to the left (p. 73)? Or Frazer's (p. 123)? (yeah, if you read "Choose Your Own Adventure books, you'll get it. If not, just read on). The beautiful wife and I appear to be making a point of hitting all the Yelp Eats! venues previous to Yelp Eats! week. Go figure. But tonight took us to Frazer's. Executive summary: Food cost more than booze (a rarity); food was delicious; service was at a near breaking point of "I'm turning into my father and I'm going to have a freakout." OK, maybe not that bad, but enough that I just can't give them more than 3 stars. 1) Chorizo stuffed dates. Just read Mike T.'s description. It sums it up quite nicely. 2) Meatloaf -- after having the chorizo in the dates, when the beautiful wife and I saw the meatloaf had a chorizo component, it had to be ordered. This wasn't my grandmother's meatloaf -- it had a lighter texture and flavor about it. Unfortunately, it didn't have any of the spice from the chorizo. Should have known better. Plus, it comes with corn (appeared to be freshly scraped off the cob), mashed potatoes and gravy (decent), and green beans (cooked to death, maybe there was a grandmother back in the kitchen?) Anyway, it was fine, but post-dinner, there was that "jeez, I spent $12.95 on that?" 3) Flourless chocolate torte - freaking delicious. 4) Service -- as the beautiful wife noted, there was a John Daly issue. Not the golfer, but the drink. Long story short, we ordered John Daly's and received lemonade with Absolut. No, that's not a John Daly. That's a "Lemonade with Vodka." A John Daly has sweet tea vodka and lemonade. Hell, it even has a Wiki page ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jo… ). Anyway, I had to bring the drinks up to the bar to have an uncomfortable conversation with the bartender. I'm already bored with this story, but it ended up working out fine. Just some minor surliness from the bartender and some uncomfortable conversation with our server. It's just one of those things that you feel everything cringing and hoping somebody doesn't end up pooping in your food. I don't think that happened. Beyond that, service was decent, but... 6) Specials -- I love specials. It's a chance for the kitchen to do something other than the routine, though some will say it's a chance for them to get rid of stuff that's about to expire. My issue here is our server was pretty much forced to recite a list of specials that was at least eight items long. And you got this sense that she was hoping we'd tell her to stop at some point. And we did (when she begrudgingly was going to start mentioned the vegetarian options). As Lea Ann noted in her review, they fail to mention prices when going through the reviews. So, you're forced to guess at what the prices might be. And if you get something called "Alaskan King Crab boil" just remember you're not at the Long John Silver's drive thru. 7) The bread -- so you get bread with your meal. And they give you nice soft butter. So far, so good. And it's not just all "normal" bread -- there was at least one type that had peppers in it. Awesome! But then on the second plate of bread (hey, I'm a glutton), we received... Cinnamon raisin bread. WTF? It wasn't breakfast. And I was dipping the bread in wife's food (again, I'm a glutton), so cinnamon raisin wasn't going to work. Anyway, I'm just finding things to bitch about. I'm sure we'll come back for the dates (they're really that great) and drinks, but I'm not sure for what else.

I had high hopes for Frazer's. Everything was just decent. I wonder if they're a little too ambitious. The food was definitely acceptable but i certainly didnt love anything. The dates were pretty good, but dont live up to the hype. Our waiter was either rude or just extremely socially awkward. Tough call, but either way is not someone who should be in a service position. The patio was pleasant, and we didn't feel any pressure to hurry up and finish our bottle of wine. It was definitely an enjoyable experience but not because of the food or the service, only because of the weather and the company I was in.

Frazer's is a great place to go in a fun area for yummy food. I was at Frazer's for a holiday party and we were all seated on the top floor with our personal bar area and it was fantastic. The whole office was impressed with the set up as well as the food and dining experience overall. Even though we had a limited amount of menu options to chose from everything seemed to be great. The options were the famous Salmon Frazer, the strip steak, the chicken florentine, and a veggie option. Everything was great. The appetizers that were served were great as well, especially the hummus and the veggie roll us. YUM YUM. I had the salmon Frazer and wow- it was delicious. The streak also looked phenomenal. Overall, I would say Frazer's is a great place to dine out, experience the fun atmosphere, and leave with a more then satisfied belly and mind.

Ah, the food was really good: my Moroccan tilapia was tasty, my friends halibut was nice, another friend who ordered steak kept commenting on how nice the steak was and how much of it there was. Best key lime pie I have ever had - better than what I had in Key West. Drawback: lots of noise. No tablecloths, and the chairs where not upholstered. Nothing to absorb sound. Other drawback: after receiving a check for the whole table, we asked the waiter to split the check. We never got the full check back - so, we could not check to see if our split checks added up to the full amount, or added up to more than the full amount...

An ex-coworker of mine works the bar here so I often stop by and see her. The place has good atmosphere and holds it's own even though it's sandwiched between two local icons (brewery and Venice Cafe). The food is good, they have a nice wine selection, and the staff is attentive. Be sure to ask for Jen if you stop by.

If for nothing other than the atmosphere and extensive specials menu, this place is a great find. A group of 7 of us decided to try something after our monthly wine tasting and it was definitely worth it. The decor has an island theme, but not overdone. There are great lounge areas and outdoor seating which makes is a great happy hour and after dinner drink place. Great dirty martini's, kinda crappy tonic for mixed drinks, and a decent on tap selection. Food was good for about 80% of the table, and the specials menu was the big hit. Tuesday special was discounted pizza and pasta choices along with 7 main course specials and a few starters to boot. Personally I had the Asparagus Salmon pasta from the standard menu and it was a big hit. Other specials included steak frites, a hearty king crab boil, and a moroccan tilapia/mahi mahi option. Overall I'll summarize with great atmosphere, diverse but complete menu, and good service. I would definitely put this on your "must try" list.

Awesome food. Be sure and try the chorizo stuffed date appetizer and the lettuce wraps for starters. We have had multiple entrees and they have all been excellent. The extensive specials are always creative and tasty. This is one place my husband and I repeatedly have the experience of having too many great choices. Good problem to have. The bar is not great, though. They consistently make drinks either too sweet (e.g. Gun gimlet with way too much sweet lime) or just "blah." Wine list is nice. We've tried several wines and not been disappointed.

Some friends and I hit up Frazer's for a late dinner Tuesday evening. The menu is large, and the specials menu (writen on a chalkboard in the dining area) was extensive. It was hard to pick! I ended up with one of the specials (the crab boil), which I thought was great....until I got the check! I wish I had known the price before ordering. Others at the table also enjoyed their food. Service was generally good...drinks came out quick and our server was attentive, but not overly so. I'm glad I tried Frazer's...but, it didn't make my favorites list.

Love this place. My girlfriend and I sit in the bar area and split the mussels and Blue cheese wedge. Their mussel dish is the best in town. The place is always hopping. Great friendly service... although they seem to be understaffed at times in the bar area. We have become regulars.

My boyfriend and I stopped in on our way out of town based on a reccomendation from a local....he advised, "It's not cheap but it's not expensive and when my parents are in town I always take them there". Seemed like a pretty good endorsement to me right? Well WRONG. Two things bugged me enough to have LEFT the restaurant after an appetizer. ONE, the horribly uncomfortable chairs. My boyfriends chair was broken, and my chair was just digging into the backs of my thighs. (to explain- the chairs consist of a loose leather hammock "thingie" held in place by two metal bars on either side) your rear end is kind of squished toward the middle while the metal bars push into the sides of your thighs. Sounds fun eh? I could not deal with the thought of sitting there for an hour in total discomfort while eating. TWO, while very informative (in a kind of Christopher Walken way) about the specials of the evening, our waiter never mentioned a single price. I could only guess at the price of the specials based on the menu prices....which were VERY expensive. We tried several times to suggest that we needed to leave but felt pressured by our waiter to order "something" which we did, reluctantly. We ate our nine dollar mushroom strudel, which was really small for a 9 dollar appetizer.....and quickly made an excuse to leave. I would not have been miffed about the prices if I had known what they were...but the chairs are totally unacceptable. No one above a toddler size could possibly be comfortable in them. The owner must be a moron for keeping these chairs after so many people have complained! Get some new chairs and tell your customers how much the specials cost.

My husband and I went for an anniversary celebration. Liked the funky decor and friendly service that was attentive but not overbearing. The pesto tilapia was a great paleo option and my husband enjoyed a pork and bacon special. I had the bread pudding dessert which was only so-so and my husband enjoyed the peanut butter ice cream. The noise level was pretty high in the side room in which we sat, owing mainly to a group of med students(?) discussing cadavers. Not Frazer's fault but, hey, you never know what to expect.

Never a disappointment coming here. The Food: Comfort and delicious. There is a wide range of options even for the pickiest eater. In short... it's eccentric variety, imaginative, attractively presented and delicious. If you are not a fan of what is on the menu, the chalkboard holds many specials, often more than the menu itself. Don't order 'til you've come to terms with these, often the best things coming from the kitchen on a given night. Service: Top Notch. The atmosphere eclectic, without being stuffy or pretentious. The food is excellent. The specials are amazing and eclectic. The deserts are phenomenal and the atmosphere is funky and not at all pretentious. Even the prices are spot on and not so expensive. Pair all of this with excellent mixed drinks and a solid wine list, and I generally am a very happy girl. Frazer's practically has everything I could want in a restaurant. So why the four stars you ask? Well....here's the thing. I am not a tiny girl mind you, but I don't need to be lifted from my home by a crane either. That said, not being a size 4, I have to make a comment on these chairs. The chairs are some kind of leather and metal concoction that dip down about 4 inches in the middle when you sit in them. Basically, it's a hammock for your bottom, but not a very wide one. I sat in them for 2 hours and the next day, the sides of my legs were covered in vertical bruises. Not pretty. This was the general complaint of my party, as half of us were stuck sitting in these torture chambers disguised as chairs. Please, get rid of these chairs...burn them, destroy them, I do not care. In the meantime, please for the love of God, if you are above a size 4, request a booth.

I went here to get drinks with a few friends. We sat near the bar on a long couch-like thing. There were random pillows everywhere, and it was pretty relaxed and comfortable to just chat over a few drinks. My friend was drinking a French martini, and not being in a beer mood, I ordered one as well. It tasted pretty strong, which I liked. The bartender was very nice and very professional. He even came over to where we were sitting a few times to see if we needed more drinks--great service. We didn't have any food, but I really enjoyed myself at their bar. And I'll definitely be back to try the food sometime. We were there for a while, and I at times was slightly inattentive and started looking around at the decor. It was eclectic, which isn't really my thing mostly because it's so hard to do well. Around the bar, they have a lot of hanging paper lanterns, a string of bright pink lights, a disco ball, and a chandelier. Behind the bar is a large stone arch with a mirror, which looked very cool. There are a couple tables with rolling chairs, and there's the area with the couch and tons of pillows, where we were sitting. Going from the bar area toward the kitchen, there is an archway in the brick wall, and around the arch there is black concrete on the wall with glass marbles in it. Before we left, I went to the bathroom. It was very dimly lit with black concrete on the walls with glass marbles and circle mirrors all over, and the toilet was black. It was all very odd--it just seemed like it was trying too hard. (I don't consider decor in rating a place though. I just thought I'd describe it.)

I work nearby and this is one of my boss' two favorite places to eat lunch (the other is McGurk's), so I've been there a few times. I usually end up getting whatever the special is that day because there's never a bad option. I've had everything ranging from pizza to pasta to sandwiches and have never been disappointed. One of my co-workers said he had a bad experience the only time he has ever been there, and the other five of us said that we never had, so we'll probably be going back next week to change the other guy's mind.

My spring in St. Louis only lasts for a month, five weeks, really. There are some restaurants that I *have to visit while I'm here. Frazer's is one of them. And last night was the night. The occasion? A successful mid-year review for a friend. The night? One of the stormiest in STL since I've been home - and a downed tree for the aforementioned friend. We started celebrating with a house-warming bottle of wine after a three-day move; I'd say we arrived Frazer's by 8? Wednesday night, no wait. We were greeted immediately, seated promptly, and presented with menus. Their leather chairs are unusual and can be uncomfortable or perfect; we had to swap out our original set for the pair at the adjacent table. Wednesday nights bring prix fixe: 3 or 4 courses as you please. My dining companion mixed & matched the 3-course; I ordered off the specials board. The prix fixe is a value, but the entrees this evening just weren't to my taste. Peter started with a massive wedge of a runny brie-ish French cheese, served with something like a crispy unleavened flour bread, thin-sliced apples, and strawberry. Awesome cheese. Massive portion, plenty for two people, too much for only one. His avocado chicken entree was a lot of food, heaps of avo, but only a B for presentation in my book. Fun jicama salad, though; I sampled. And for dessert it was a variation on an apple (fruit?) crisp, forgive me for forgetting the menu names of the items. Again, gargantuan portion for one person and really even more than enough for the two of us, but it was served hot with a dollop of whipped cream and was absolutely luscious. Better than any of his trio, though, I have to say, was my pork tenderloin. There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to try - the Thai lettuce wraps, the chorizo-stuffed dates - I had to invoke self-control to resist the gluttonous impluses brought on by the specials board. I asked the server whether to go for the Moroccan tilapia, which I know and love, or the roasted pork tenderloin. On her enthusiastic recommendation I ordered the latter, and wow, so satisfied. Pork tenderloin, topped with white wine shallot reduction and garlic confit, served with sweet potatoe fries and sauteed spinach. Spinach was awesome! Pork was awesome! Tender, moist, great flavor. Sweet potato fries - these are on the menu EVERYWHERE this summer, but Frazer's does a better job that most with a rather ordinary tuber. Beverages were a glass of sweet Riesling for him and the Peirano Petite Sirah for me. Loved it, soft and supple - I'd order a bottle. I think they have a great wine list and can always find something fun and tasty to try. Final thoughts: 1) Smoking is allowed in the bar. I never even caught a whiff of it in the dining room, and I'm super-sensitive to cigarette exhaust. 2) It gets noisy. Full, the main room is loud. Even if the only other table is an exuberant group of 10 celebrating a birthday, it is still noisy. 3) Our server criticized one of the menu items. While I suppose I ought to appreciate her frankness, I found it inappropriate. Subtleness would have been more classy. That said, she was attentive. Love Frazer's. You will, too.

It has to be difficult to own a restaurant that sits in the looming shadow of the infamous Venice Cafe. Not that, at the end of the day, Venice is something so special that you can't possibly coincide with them, but imagine how difficult it would be to get people to notice your brand new taupe-colored siding if your next door neighbor had decorated their house in a glittery mosaic of jazz hands and rainbows. Now yes, Frazer's may not be the kind of place where you can pay for a sandwich with a song, but honestly I'm not really one to sing in public anyway. Their atmosphere is formal enough to match their amazing food but not too stuffy so that you feel you have to dress up or can't relax. Their servers are also friendly and knowledgeable and I have found them to be very helpful when deciding what to order. It's nice to have someone who can explain the specials in an authoritative way without talking over your head or being pushy with the up-sell. On a recent trip to Frazer's, we brought an out-of-town guest there for the first time. The goal was to kick back, have a few drinks and have a delicious but "normal" meal. We absolutely accomplished this goal at Frazer's. For starters we had the cheese plate and the chorizo stuffed dates. Both dishes were very flavorful and a great start to the meal. Among the three of us at the table our order consisted of only items from the special's board. I personally had the sweet potato enchiladas and holy crap they were good! You will not hear me say that often about a vegetarian item but I will definitely have those again. Ok, now let me go back to the chorizo stuffed dates... I order this dish every single time that I go to Frazer's and I don't see me changing this pattern anytime soon. Frazer and his crew are doing some amazing things here with, to be quite honest, a food item that I have long since avoided, the date. You get 4 of what looks like a small meatball, in a spicy tomato sauce. Not having seen how they make these, I won't even begin to act like I know how they're prepared but let me sum it up for you: they take a ball full of MAGIC and wrap it in a strip of BACON. Yes, I said it, BACON! Simultaneously you taste a little spicy, from the chorizo, sweet, from the date, salty from the bacon, and acidic from the tomato sauce, in what is an incredibly delicate balance of awesome flavors. I could honestly go on about the stuffed dates for hours but all I really need to say is get off your butt, trek out in the snow (it's worth it) and get yourself and order of your own. Now! Oh yeah, they have beers and cool stuff like that too. Be sure to get your drink on while you're at it. Bacon!

This is one of my favorite places to go on those random nights when I haven't planned ahead and want something nice but not too nice. The atmosphere can be disconcerting -- the outside patio is lovely, but inside the chairs are a little uncomfortable and the layout makes it seem like I'm always seated next to the kitchen or the bathroom. But the food is always great. I love the sweet potato enchiladas, which are often one of the many specials offered, but I've never been disappointed with anything I order.

Went here for the first time with an out of town guest. I not only love the renaissance that is/has been happening in the Benton Park neighborhood, but Frazer's was a wonderful find. Most of the menu was given to us verbally from our server, as they have many specials per night. We started with a cheese plate and the stuffed dates (just as good as we had heard). The wine list was extensive and the server was helpful. We each had something different and tried one another's. The meatloaf from the menu was so rich and flavorful. There was a seafood pasta special with a creamy tomato sauce and generous with the seafood and we also had a pork special that was comfort food at its best. I love the patio and I am already looking forward to sitting outside again in the spring. Thank you Frazer's!

I have eaten at Frazer's twice now and each meal had it's up-side and down-side. To start, the cheese plate with house made crackers and fruit is WONDERFUL and was the best part of both of my experiences. The entrees that I ordered left me unimpressed. The roasted chicken was a bit oily and a tad flavorless. So on my second visit I had the Strip Steak Adobo ordered Medium and it was completely under cooked. My server was surprised at how undercooked it was! The up side was that it came back cooked correctly the second time around. Frazer's has a nice relaxed atmosphere. I will give it another try.

I love this place. I've been going here since it was Frazer's Travelling Brown Bag in one small room 15 years ago! My fav thing is still the Garden Linguini. If it's not on the menu, ask and they can make it for you. I love their creative email specials and that they really work hard to get and keep your business -- great customer service! Delicious food, and the prix-fixe menu is one of the best deals in town. Worth the drive, wherever you live. It's great for a casual meal or a special occasion too. And I highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert.

Frazer's has never let me down in the almost 10 years I've been going there. I do understand the chair issue for some, but it's never been a problem for me. Their food is reliably good and prepared to order. They will go out of their way to do things off-the-menu if you require. Their numerous specials are generally a good bet. Rich the bartender is an encyclopedia of cocktails, so ask him to make you something unique. They have great happy hour deals.

When I use to live in St. Louis, this was one of my favorite places of all time. I was back for a visit a few months back with a small group and I was delighted to find they still have my favorite mushroom truffle pastry appetizer, but it just so happened it was on special that night instead of being on the regular menu, whew I lucked out. This place is cool and fun, and combines a bunch of food that St. Louis loves. No matter what your taste, you'll find something you'll love here! The etouffee and kabob are really great here, but whatever you do make sure you order the bread pudding for dessert! The service is fast and friendly and the atmosphere is laid back and cool.

This was an awesome find. We tried going to Shaved Duck but there was over an hour wait and they didn't seem interested in us being there. We were famished so we did a quick Yelp search to find something else in the area. SO glad we came to Frazer's. I called and they put us down for a reservation and we walked in and were seated immediately. Got a glass of the house wine which was very tasty and began looking at the menu. Ordered the kebab skewer to start with and devoured it as soon as it got to the table. It was really good. He ordered the crab boil and I got swordfish. It was really good. Really meaty. Never knew what I was missing before this. I practically licked my plate clean. I could have used a little more sauce, because it was so tasty. That's my only complaint. He loved the crab boil and it was really reasonably priced given that we're nowhere near an ocean. Didn't have time for dessert because we were headed to meet some friends, but all in all a great expedited experience. The server was patient and friendly and helpful and made sure we were fed and happy. I'd definitely come back and recommend it to others.

My wife and I went for dinner this past Friday (10/1/10). We both have seen the Frazers sign from I55 but never dined there, so we thought we'd give it a try. Ok, so here it goes. The food we had was fantastic and the service delightful. Let me put it this way: Stuffed Dates - A+, Cheese Board - A+, Mushrooms in the phyllo dough - A+, Chorizo Meatloaf wrapped in bacon entree - A+, Alison, our waitress for the evening - A+, and the Pistachio Cake - Hell Yeah A+! Alison knew the menu and made great suggestions. Everything we had made for a very relaxed, enjoyable, satisfying evening. We'll make this a regular spot from now on. Keep up the good work!

great food with few disappointments. the great thing about this restaurant is there is something for EVERYONE - with a large menu, there is always also a ton of additional specials. here's the rundown on what our party ate: zucchini rolls (special): ehh...couldn't taste whatever was rolled in the center carpaccio: honestly, one of the best i've ever had asparagus cheddar soup (special): good, cheesy soup - not much asparagus watermelon salad: yumm - 3 large slices of watermelon! tomato salad: super fresh and great vinegarette! pear endive salad: tasty if you like the bitterness of endives blackened mahi (special): fish was cooked perfectly and the sesame dressing was excellent steak frites (special): steak was cooked perfectly and the homemade fries were really good moroccan tilapia (special): tasted a lot like curry with a hint of spicyness pizza with turkey sausage: i am not a fan of turkey sausage, but i thought this was really good roasted pork tenderloin: perfectly cooked pork with sauteed spinach (a bit too salty) and yummy sweet potato fries ginger cherry pie: pie crust could've been better, but the filling was excellent creme brulee: one of the best i've ever had!

wow, how does this place not have more than two reviews? come on people, you've got to get in on this shit. we just had a really great & really expensive meal at Frazer's. We found it based on a recommendation from one of my coworkers; a dude Sue calls "Old Young Man." Because he's pretty young, but dresses like an old man. Hence the mashup name. Anyways, he's never steered us wrong and tonite was no different. The atmosphere is cool. Kinda eclectic. Some of the stuff doesn't work as well as others, but whatever, as my boy Alton Brown says "I'm just here for the food." In a moment of gluttony, we each ordered an appetizer - mussels & the mushroom tart thingie. Mussels were a little gamey, but holy christ on a stick was the mushroom thingie good. Mushrooms and feta and other junk baked inside a perfect filo crust. Made me happy in the pants. For the entrees we got the lavender duck (anyone else realize how the d & the f keys being so close together could really alter this review?) and the king crab boil. the duck was perfect. I didn't get to try a lot of it because Sue stabbed my hand when I got too close. So, from a distance, it looked impressive. It was seriously half a duck. Typically a place will throw you a slivered duck breast and call it a night. Not here, my friends. you got half the bird and it was all good. The King Crab Boil was interesting. I don't use interesting as a synonym for "I don't have the balls to tell you it sucked." I genuinely mean interesting. Swimming in a light, buttery broth was andouille sausage, a few potatoes, a whole corn complete with cob, some string beans, a few shrimp, some clams & mussels and a gigantic king crab leg. The funny thing was the crab claw was holding its own lemon. So considerate to assist me in it's own digestion. I defnitely would've thrown the last star up there for the perfect review, but A) the chairs were really uncomfortable and B) they prop themselves up as an "Earth-friendly restaurant" and then they send the leftovers home in styrofoam containers. Such is life.

I had been wanting to try Frazer's for awhile now and will just say the atmosphere made the night for me. I went with a group of friends (7 total) for dinner. We were waiting for a few, so we grabbed a drink at the bar first. I have to say that although the bar was not crowded, it was the fastest service I've had from a bartender in awhile (a major plus in my book!) Drinks came quickly and although I did not sample, a friend said the dirty vodka martini was one of the best he has had. We sat down to dinner and ordered the cheese plate, Scottish salmon, and an appetizer special, Thai lettuce wraps. All were nice, but nothing to write home about. I will say, the wide range of specials, from appetizers to main dishes had me intrigued, but I was in a burger kind of mood, so I went with my gut...should've gone with a special. The burger was overdone even for medium (I was told they would prepare it medium or more, not medium-rare as I like) and rather dry. The bun was nice, but nothing special either. I subbed fries for the mashed potatoes and they were also so-so. I'm giving Frazer's 3 stars because everyone else was overly satisfied with their meals, and the atmosphere (plus their happy hour deals!) makes me want to come back and try again!

We always enjoy the food! Last night we had dates stuff with sausage and wrapped in bacon (yummy!). Just a walk from home, we really like it in the summer. Highly recommend the King Crab boil.

Not impressed! Caesar Salad was boring....nothing but lettuce & cheese!!! Menu choices very limited......service fair. Had high hopes, but we won't be back!! Not enough meat and sandwich choices! Strictly for the vegans!

Enjoyable atmosphere and food. Select menu off the chalkboard on the wall, so I suppose the experience can be varied, but I like their style.

End of an era, so sad. My boyfriend and I have been regulars at Frazer's for the past 5 years and would often recommend to our friends. The atmosphere, superior cocktails, attention to detail and incredible ingredients have always made this place a special romantic haven for us. Last night, however, was a sad example of what has happened the last few times we have visited Frazer's. Our waiter was sloppy, moving way too quickly, and not interested in building any type of rapport with us. Explaining the evening specials was clearly a waste of his time and energy. (If you've been there before, you know that part of the charm of this place is the wonderful explanations of the specials, including the description of the local ingredients which complement the dish.) To cap off his poor service, he gave us the wrong bill which overcharged us by $20. In addition, we noticed, with the exception of Richard, who has been a cornerstone there, the other wait staff joking around and not attending to their work either. The food, which is usually the highlight, was horrible and left us both feeling ill -- not a pleasant way to finish a romantic evening. I ordered my usual favorite, the pork tenderloin. The dish last night was tough, overcooked and bland; and the sauce unimpressive. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon and it tasted strange, like the cut had been a salvaged piece of pot roast passed off as a steak cut. Everyone knows what filet mignon is supposed to be, and this was not it. It was weird. We should have sent both dishes back but were so shocked we just wanted to leave. We will be not be returning to our favorite place and are mourning the loss. It was clear to us from last night there is a sad lack of respect for both the food and the patrons.

we ate a frazers a while ago and had a good meal, so we were optimistic about our return trip tonight. unfortunately, we were disappointed with every aspect of our visit, from hostess to waiter to food and drink.

Great food in a refined and sophisticated yet casual atmosphere. Interesting eclectic combination of selections running from comfort food (meatloaf) to exotic specials. Full bar and a good wine list too. Don't fill up on the main course because they also make their own desserts (and you will want one). The staff is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. This place is an overlooked gem situated near the brewery.
